Hi ALL I am trying to install rpm -ivh ffmpeg-0.4.9-0.3.20051207.2.el4.rf.i386.rpm warning: ffmpeg-0.4.9-0.3.20051207.2.el4.rf.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 6b8d79e6 error: Failed dependencies: libImlib2.so.1 is needed by ffmpeg-0.4.9-0.3.20051207.2.el4.rf.i386 libfaad.so.0 is needed by ffmpeg-0.4.9-0.3.20051207.2.el4.rf.i386 libpostproc.so.0.0.1 is needed by ffmpeg-0.4.9-0.3.20051207.2.el4.rf.i386 where do i get packages for the above failed Failed dependencies, How to determine the package which contains this dependencies Thanks and Regards Kaushal

vsftpd virtual users not able to delete the files (second time post)

hey friends, I am using vsftpd version 2.0.1 on Centos4.0. I am trying to create some virtual users who can upload,download and delete the files in their particular directories. I followed the below link to create the virutal users http://linuxsir.zahui.net/html/23/43449.htm I have created a user called "tester" and the entries in the tester file (/etc/vsftpd/vsftpd_user_conf/tester) are anon_world_readable_only=NO user_sub_token=$USER local_root=/var/www/html/testing write_enable=YES anon_upload_enable=YES chown_uploads=YES The problem I am facing is that virtual user is not able to delete the files or folders under /var/www/html/testing directory but this user can upload and download the files or folders on /var/www/html/testing The vsftpd.conf file user_config_dir=/etc/vsftpd/vsftpd_user_conf write_enable=NO anon_upload_enable=NO anon_mkdir_write_enable=NO anon_other_write_enable=NO chroot_local_user=YES guest_enable=YES guest_username=apache listen=YES hide_ids=YES hide_files=lost+found pam_service_name=ftp userlist_enable=YES local_umask=022 anonymous_enable=NO local_enable=YES tcp_wrappers=YES How do I configure vsftp so that virtual users can upload,delete and download the files or folders ? SELinux is off on Centos4.0 and iptables are configured to allow FTP ports. Please let me know if you need any further inputs. Thanks & Regards Ankush Grover

Gnome battery and cpu speed control

hi, I am running CENTOS 4.3 on my IBM thinkpad T30, (recently switch from Fedora 5), and would like to have the icon of my battery remaining and my cpuspeed control. but could not find anywhere only the klaptop_check wich i do not like too much, i am using acpi, could anyone please tell which aplication do i need to install or how do i execute it? thanks a lot, regards, Guillermo Garron

Vmware server help

Hello all, I thought I'd ask you guys about this one since I've had no luck from vmware forums/kb or google ... I have a centos 4.3 x86-64 (athlon64 with cool-n quiet enabled) with vmware server 1.0 installed and working beautifully with the annoying exception of my guest machines clocks (centos, ubuntu etc) run very fast. I've read the vmware white paper on guest clocks, tried all their suggestions and had no joy. I've tried passing the clock=x parameters to the guests kernel etc to no avail. There is one last hope according to the white paper....install vmware tools and then set clock=pmtr and then use ntp from within the guest to sync the time periodically. Do any of you know a way to get vmware tools installed when you do not run a graphical interface (ie runlevel of the box is 3) ? I cant seem to get it going. Should I download the tools and copy them into the vm ? Any help much appreciated as I'm not cutting over to use production VMs until I can fix this. Cheers, Bards.

LVM repairing or back to regular ext3?

Can anyone point me in the right direction for correcting errors on an HD when using LVM? I've tried e2fsck and indicates bad block. I've tried with -b 8193, 16384, and 32768 and no good. I've found some info about reiserfsck on google, but this utility doesn't seem to be included in Centos4.3. I did find it on my old FC1 box. I am thinking now I really should have went with just regular 83 Linux ext3 partitions. Arrgghhh. And if I want to switch to 83 Linux instead of 8e LVM, whats the best way, or at least a feasible way? Thanks Guillermo. The thing is, I can send test emails outside my domain no problem. I can't send emails to my internal smtp server from any CentOS system on my internal network. I discovered that I didn't have an MX record in tinydns for my internal network, so I added that. After testing, no changes - any email that's destined to any address to my domain bounces with the error message listed below. I'm not a sendmail person, would rather do without it, but I don't think I can simply remove it from CentOS. I could install postfix, or qmail and see how that works, but it's serious overkill for sending simple emails internally... Had hopes ssmtp would work, but that doesn't either. Works on Gentoo systems, just not CentOS. A hair puller that's for sure, but I'll keep banging on it until it works. Thanks for all the ideas, if anyone can think of anything else, I'll try it! Try sending emails elsewhere ? to an @ gmail.com <http://gmail.com> maybe ? Alternatively, have you tried nut ? it should be available in most repo's. Dumb question about a Xeon Procesor

Sorry to ask here but never used a Xeon before. Tomorrow i need to install Centos 4.3 on a Quad Xeon (not dual core). Xeon is a 32 bit or 64 bit system? I already have centos 4.3 x86_64 on a Dvd and im not sure if i need to download another ISO or can I use the one i have?
