yum install x windows?

Hi On a laptop that currently has 4.3 but no X is it possible to do a yum install x windows ? Or similar command to get X and Audio installed? thanks

SSH + VNC

I am trying to log into a desktop that is running CentOS 4.2 by tennelling VNC through SSH.. The desktop auto-logins a user, then sits there waiting for me to login. On the client side, I fire up SSH tunneling ssh -L 8000:127.0.0.1:5900 The client spits back the error vncviewer: ConnectToTcpAddr: connect: Connection refused Unable to connect to VNC server The server says channel 5: open failed: connect failed: Connection refused channel 5: open failed: connect failed: Connection refused I've tried ssh -L 5900:127.0.0.1:5900 ssh -L 8000:localhost:5900 and neither work. I've also tried using the command vino-preferences on the remote desktop. It tells me to connect to vnc:/IP-address:0 Whats interesting is that if I issue the command vncserver on the remote desktop, it starts up a new server on display :1. I can connect to this display with no issues via the SSH tunnel. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem? I use SSH tunneling and VNC with display :0 on SUSE 10.0 machines all the time without issues. thanks

libxml2 RPM via yum?

Hi All, I can't find anything via yum for libxml2. I also, for some reason, can't get to the source page for libxml2 here, http://xmlsoft.org/sources/libxml2/ Is there not an RPM via yum for this? Need it for a dependency for installing PHP from source, which I need to do, for certain reasons. Cheers. Mark.

Update among protected repos (with yum-protectbase-plugin)

Packages in the protected repositories can't be overridden by packages in non-protected repositories even if the non-protected repo has a later version. --- But jumps a doubt to me, can be updated packages among different protected repos? Suppose you have 2 protected repos A and B. First you install package pkg-N.rpm from repo A, then in repo B there is an update to the pkg-N.rpm which you installed from repo A. Is this update permitted? Greetings

convert from fedora with reiserfs to centos-4.3

I upgraded a box running fedora core 2 to Centos-4.3 The fedora core box has a reiserfs file system, which I am assuming is not supported in the CentOS kernel. I tried the unsupported kernel but I still get a kernel panic. Can I either convert to ext3, or possibly install something that will make my reiserfs filesystem work ? --
