Partitioning advice

I have a new 1u server here. It is a dell 850 with dual 80 gig SATA drives. I intend to software RAID1 the drives. So, after a quick rush through the documentation and modifying the spec file to show version: 1.3.0 and release: centos4.2 I tried to build the subversion package using: > rpmbuild -ba subversion.spec and I got this: > error: Failed build dependencies: > apr-devel >= 0.9.5 is needed by > subversion-1.3.0-centos4.2.i386 apr-util-devel >= 0.9.5 is > needed by subversion-1.3.0-centos4.2.i386 So, since this software is working on my system and since centos seems to backport the essentials I made the leap that apr-0.9.4 was good enough. I went in and altered the spec file again to set the minimum version of apr down to 0.9.5. Now I get: > rpmbuild -ba subversion.spec > ... > configure: Apache Portable Runtime (APR) library configuration > checking for APR... yes > checking APR version... 0.9.4 > wanted regex is 0\.9\.[5-9] or 1\. > configure: error: invalid apr version found > error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.51580 (%prep) So, I was wrong. Is there some easy way to fix this short of installing apr-0.9.5 over 0.9.4? Digest subscriber, direct copies of any replies appreciated. dcs-5300g dlink camera crashes dhcpd

All, I just received my DC-5300G dlink camera. WHen I plugged it into my network and powered on my DHCPD process seg faulted. Mar 22 13:18:04 devcentos64 kernel: dhcpd[1734]: segfault at 000000562ace02ae rip 000000552aad4787 rsp 0000007fbfffe860 error 4 I tried it a second time and it died again. Any ideas??? Using the config tool under windows shows an IP address in my range however I have not been able to configure the device yet. Jerry

various update problems

I was using the http round robin but several packages get header errors. I reverted to my ftp setup and i am getting checksum errors. I have cleaned yum several times now and it cleans properly. futex.. How to remove lots of duplicate packages

This is the second time on a version upgrade that I've been hit with the futex wait issue. Last time I hung with about 5 packages to go, this time it hung with about 50 packages on the clean up. Now I have loads of duplicate packages, any way to search and/or remove them without trying to do it manually?

File transfer protocols question.

Hello list. Please excuse me this question not directly connected to CentOS. I have no idea where I could ask about that. I have to download/upload over 5GB backup file to server (Linux). First I used FTP client from my computer where I have a backup. FTP upload from my computer has failed. I think 5GB file is too large for the FTP protocol. Now I have loged into shell of the server (where backup should be) and I'm downloading backup file from my computer through SFTP. Safety

My server has not yet been updated with all the goodies and is still a stock 4.2 installation. What is the consensus about remote updating? Would it be better if I were to physically be there and do it or are things stable enough that I could do it remotely and then reboot. It's kind of a PITA to have to go downtown to the C0-LO site, but can be done. Thanks.. Sam

SSH Migration -- Conversion

I sent the following to secureshell(a)securityfocus.com (after subscribing), but have not seen it posted. Probably my old mail server software that I will be using for a few more weeks... ================================================================== I have been running the commercial SSH for a long time. I want to (for now at least) migrate my user keys to my Linux platform running openSSH. There are two files in my C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\SSH\UserKeys directory: user.pub user These files start with: ---- BEGIN SSH2 PUBLIC KEY ---- Comment: "My Network [2048-bit dsa, user@host, Tue Jan 15 2002 04:27:29]" and ---- BEGIN SSH2 ENCRYPTED PRIVATE KEY ---- Comment: "My Network [2048-bit dsa, user@host, Tue Jan 15 2002 04:27:29]" So I need some magic to move the files. I have another notebook already on Linux and it has the SSH service running if there is someway I could upload the files there and then copy them over to the new system. I have also, in the past, learned to manually upload the pub file to a SSH server that did not have the SCP available by: 2. Log on to the servervusing password authentication. mkdir .ssh cd .ssh 3. On your local machine, use Notepad.exe to open your SSH local public key file. This can be normally be found in: C:\Documents and Settings\testuser1\Application Data\SSH\UserKeys 4. With the key file opened in the Notepad application, open the Edit menu and choose Select All. Once everything is selected, open the Edit menu again and select Copy. 5. On the server, complete the following steps: cat > ~/.ssh/identity.pub Paste the contents of the Clipboard (which should now contain the contents of your key file). Issue a CTRL+D to close the identity.pub file. Convert the key to one that SSH will recognize using the following command: /usr/bin/ssh-keygen -X -f ~/.ssh/identity.pub >> ~/.ssh/authorized_keys2 Be sure to complete step 5-d. So I ASSuME this is how I can move my public key. How to move my private key and passphrase protect it?
