LDAP authentication problems

I am working on a ldap base to authenticate user. My problem is binding to ldap with phpldapadmin or cpu. I can bind anonymously with phpldapadmin. ldapadd, ldapsearch etc. works. Users in the database can logon, so the authentication works, but I cant bind.... I need some input please, I cant find the missing link. Off-Topic Mambo Vulnerabilities & Patches

On the Mambo CMS site there are vulnerabilities found. Whilst this is not a CentOS problem, people rent/deploy servers (CentOS) on the net with Mambo. A guy in one of the user forums on the net, had his Mambo 4.5.2 server hacked and they installed some interesting stuff in /tmp . When a server is hacked it gives bad PR for the underlying OS. <----announcement on http://www.mamboserver.com/-----> Investigations by GulfTech Research And Development have revealed a long standing weakness in Mambo that could allow a hacker to compromise sites built on Mambo. The firms findings will be published in about a week's time. The Mambo development team has created fixes for versions 4.5.3 and 4.5.3h. The new patch files can be found at MamboXchange The patch packages are delivered in both ZIP and TAR.GZ formats - select whichever is right for you. Each package contains two files - content.php and mambo.php. These should replace the corresponding files in your existing installation, as follows: (1) The first file (content.php) should be used to overwrite this file:/components/com_content/content.php. Bandwidth limiting and shaping

Hi, I have a client that is looking for an solution to do bandwidth monitoring and traffic shapping. I would like to use Centos if possible, but I need somthing that has a GUI so they can easily make changes and updates. It would have to be ip based or mac address. What would you suggest. I have looked a Ipcop and smoothwall as solutions so far. Thanks

What's the procedure for filing bug reports related to kernel panics on CentOS/RHEL? I've just had the following kernel panic on one of the new mailstores (argh!). vpopmail over NFS not seeing new messages.

Hi all. We've just migrated our back-end NFS mailstore from FC1 systems to CentOS4 and are experiencing problems/delays with vpopmail and user Maildirs. IMAP is fine, it's just POP access that causes us problems. Now, NFS mounts successfully, the clients can see /home/vpopmail and serve content as we would expect. IMAP works perfectly and sees new messages as soon as they're delivered into the Maildir, but POP doesn't seem to see new messages until about 90 minutes after it arrived. Messages can be seen in users' Maildir/new on the filesystem. The timestamps on new messages on the NFS filesystems don't appear to be formatted correctly, I'm guessing this could cause the POP weirdness? On an NFS client... [root@mailserv2 new]# ls -ltr total 4 -rw------- 1 vpopmail vchkpw 854 Feb 28 2006 1141126119.27119.mailserv1,S=773 Whereas on the NFS mailstore... The old FC mailstores were running... kernel 2.4.22-1.2188.nptl nfs-utils-1.0.6-1 DRBD 0.6.12 heartbeat-1.0.4-2.fr.c.1.um.2 The new CentOS mailstores and all their clients are running... kernel 2.6.9-22.0.1.ELsmp nfs-utils-1.0.6-65.EL4 DRBD 0.7.14 heartbeat-1.2.3.cvs.20050927-1.centos4 Qmailrocks 2.2.0 /etc/exports on the mailstores contains... /mnt/drbd/ mailserv1(rw,sync,no_root_squash) /mnt/drbd/ mailserv2(rw,sync,no_root_squash) /mnt/drbd/ mailserv3(rw,sync,no_root_squash) /mnt/drbd/ mailserv4(rw,sync,no_root_squash) And the NFS mounts on the client mailservers look like... mailstore1:/mnt/drbd/home /home nfs defaults 0 0 If anyone's seen this or can shed any light it'd be much appreciated. CPAN module install problem

I could use some assistance getting CPAN functional again. CPAN stopped working on Centos 4.2 x64, and I can no longer install modules. I did a install Bundle::CPAN and upgraded to 1.8.2, and perl was updated afterwards via yum update. Telling software system really has 512Mb memory

I am stuck in my Scalix install. It checks for 512Mb memory. At some point I am suppose to get the extra memory, but for now I am stuck at 256Mb. Is there some system value that I can set so that the installer is led to believe there is 512Mb of memory, so I can at least get this stuff installed?

Is there an rpm package for the latest kernel-source? What about perl-CGI I did a search and install using yum and nothing was returned? This seems kind of odd? Any ideas?

I got in over my head. jpackage was/is too much for me at this time. Maybe for a long time. Sorry for diverting your efforts to try and help me. I only want to run SCALIX CE on this system. It needs the jdk and tomcat. But if you look: http://www.scalix.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=516&highlight=centos A number have gotten it running just fine with the 'broken' sun stuff. Perhaps Scalix is not so 'demanding'. So I am following instructions from above URL. I did learn a lot here, making up for some of the implied steps in the instructions. Perhaps I will have to do a complete reinstall of Centos to get out of the jpackage mess I might be in. Well I REALLY should learn Kickstart, and perhaps I will do that for this system! Again you are all a great help. If you need some crypto help. 802.11i or such, that is where I 'live'. Well at least I help right the specs. Someelse has to code them!
