Mouse hour glass and desktop

What does it mean when your mouse hour glass pointer turns into a skull and cross bones symbol for a few seconds and is then followed by your desktop icons being scrambled around to different locations. This reminds me of a bug in the old Windows 98 SE desktop. What would cause this? This has happened to me once before on Fedora 3 (I think, maybe 2).

Sendmail.cf / access.db

I've noticed from the sendmail logs, certain IP's are being blocked via the known spammers configuration in the sendmail.cf. What I also note is in my access file, I have several TLD's that are listed, yet are NOT being blocked. Yes, I do call a make after each edit of the access list, and going by the timestamp on access.db, it appears to being updated, yet again, in the sendmail portion of the daily logs, those TLD's which are in the access list are not listed as being blocked. Hope that is not too confusing.. think I confused myself, but in any case, things are in there that should be blocked and are not being. Hints? Sam

lsraid on centos 4.2

On older systems redhat 9 there was a command lsraid.... I have a centos 4.2 system that does not have that command. What is the new command that is equivalent to "lsraid -a /dev/md0"? Or is there a package that does not get loaded by default? Lsraid is not on my system. THanks, jerry

Hi List, I've run into a library problem I believe might be related to the portland group compiler, and / or the libs on CentOS. Essentially what is happening is the primary executable I'm trying to run is failing under mpi. Here's the output from the command (which would be the same as the script calling it) $ /usr/local/mpich/bin/mpirun -machinefile machines.LINUX -np 2 ./wrf.exe /home/sam/WRFV2/run/./wrf.exe: /usr/pgi/linux86-64/6.0/lib/libpthread.so.0: version `GLIBC_2.3.3' not found (required by /lib64/tls/librt.so.1) Oddly enough, this same kernel environment works quite well with a previous version of the WRF code, but fails miserably with this update.. The compiler which bullt the old package built the new one too. The current package is still running by setting "LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.2" which was suggested by Maze, back some months ago. I've tried different permutations of the LD kernel assumption, but all fail. One note tho, the wrf.exe file will work in single cpu mode *with* the kernel environment set to 2.4.2, and it also runs under mpi, albeit a private version in a user directory, but they are both identical builds. Is there any other work-arounds someone could point me to, or perhaps some documentation that might explain what the thing is doing? Not a lot of real good info that a non-programmer can understand in the mpich manpages, but still no mention of errors possible like this. Running in single CPU mode takes about 5 hours, where the dual CPU method, based on the old version of the code only takes a shade ovver 2.25 hours. Regards.... Sam

32 bit libs sat aside 64 bit libs

Regards trying to install vmware-server and the libs problem just read on the vmware tech site that i need to install the 32 bit libs the app to function i have then tried to do yum install xorg-x11- devel.i386 but this fails on a transaction error any way to get this working ? -Stephen
