Perl fun part 2

I figured this needed it's own thread, so apologies for spamming the list. Along with the /usr/share/perl5 issues (which I did kinda fix with a manual copy of the directory from another box), we're having an issue with SystemD (go figure) stopping the radiator service, but failing to unbind the ports (1645/1646). It's complaining about 'killproc' not found. Is there a package that's in? Or how do I get this to work with SystemD properly? We can't have this thing jacked up like this. C 7, lockd issue

I thnk I posted this last week, but to refresh your minds (for Americans, after all the turkey): two C7 boxes, updated. box 1 is exporting directories; box 2 is not running nfs. From box 1, every minute, I get <...> kernel: lockd: server fred.local not responding, timed out Now, on box 2, fred is eth0:fred, and is one of five secondaries on eth0. When I do an ip a, it shows as the last one. Further, df shows no directory from box 1 being mounted. So, does anyone have a clue on this? mark

Migrating From CentOS-6 To CentOS-7

I've a system that has been running CentOS 6 64-bit for almost 4-years and I want to start the move to CentOS 7 64-bit. I run software RAID-1 with LVM everywhere except /boot which is a standard partition RAID-1. There are 2 areas that concern me greatly about this migration: 1. How do I duplicate my current grub configuration file that supports a failure of /dev/sda to grub2? 2. How do I install CentOS 7 but use my existing hard drive layout so I only format specific OS file systems. My drive layout goes back to the original proposed FHS layout. The separate partitions are: /boot 1GB / 6GB /home 4GB /opt 4GB /tmp 2GB /usr 12GB /usr/local 2GB /var 8GB swap 16GB Plus many other file system dedicated to specific applications and data. When I moved from CentOS 5 to CentOS 6 all of the OS partitions were formatted except /home. All went extremely well then. But I don't see a way to do that with CentOS 7. Chromium on CentOS 6

I have chromium installed on CentOS 7 and it works fine, I now need to install it on a CentOS 6 workstation. However, it is not available in EPEL as it is for C 7. From what I understand, this is because it is already available in a supplementary channel from RHEL for C 6. Kickstart and nvme0n1

Hi all. In recent hardware the first disk has device name nvme0n1 rather then sda How do you tell kickstart to use the first available disk? No matter if it is called sda or nvme0n1? e.g. part /boot --fstype="xfs" --ondisk=sda --size=1000 Regards ....Volker

File access in Apache 2.4

Folks I'm having file-access problems in Apache 2.4 under Centos 7. In particular: - I have a file that's readable to every user and every application, (writeable by only one user), but my CGI scripts cannot read it. - Some of my CGI scripts need temporary storage for some files. They are, for example, some internal log files, tnat get cleaned up over time, but I want to be able to look at them (as root). Where would you suggest they be placed? I've tried /tmp/my_private_files/, and /var/tmp/my_private_files/, but Apache fails to find even the directory. Any suggestions? PS: Centos 6 had no such problems, and the file locations worked just fine. David

Creating Spec file for RPM

Im trying to learn how to create RPMs but am a little confused by the spec file. Im trying to package up some Python scripts, rather than binary files, and I want them to be installed in a subdirectory under /usr/local which I shall refer to as /usr/local/X Ive put the scripts in a tarball under /home/me/X/RPM/SOURCES but Im getting terribly confused over what to put in the %build %install and %files sections If I set $RPM_BUILD_ROOT to /home/me/X/RPM/temp then put %prep %setup -q that will unpack the tarball, yes?, but where to, /home/me/X/RPM/temp ? how would I then tell it to move the files I want from there into /usr/local/X and set appropriate permissions on them? The examples online all assume you have a makefile with a make install target, could I simply use the cp command under the %install section? But where am I copying from and to? My brain is tied in knots! Many thanks Andrew
