I have tried in the grub.conf file noapic and apic=off I am still getting the same error message about ACPI in the dmesg output. example: ACPI: PCI interupt .... IRQ 16 eth0: RealTek RTL8139 ... IRQ16 eth0: identified 8139 chip type so ACPI is grabbing IRQ 16 and not letting eth0 have it. (I Think). How do I correctly disable it on my compaq v2000 laptop. I think it is not allowing my usb and realtek network to function. Jerry

Hmmm, I've gotta apologize, I just haven't messed with enough Intel chipsets in a long, long time. I've switched away from the legacy GTL+ non-sense to AMD's completely virtualized bus over EV6/HyperTransport and haven't seen an IRQ issue ... _ever_. ---------------------- I've not had interrupt conflicts since I left ISA!!!! [ tail -f /var/log/messages, then stick in the device ] ------------------ sticking the device in gives nothing further in /var/log/messages. lsmod | grep hcd shows the 3rd column as "0" as not in use... lsusb gives no output. I am just using a lexar usb device jumpdrive. There is no other writing on it other than 128M. (Has worked in everything else I've stuck it in). Setting up a simple NAT on CentOS 3.5

Well I think this system is back on 3.5. How do I tell? Have not used it in a while... I need a NAT for some quick testing and this box was available. Only a 6gb drive, so I can't install Astaro (which I have licenses for). So is there a simple way to turn on NATing? Should I upgrade to 4.2? This box is behind a firewall, so security risks are not the issue. This time.

Where is the kernel source code???

I have centOS 4 installed on my machine but some how it does not support my TV capture card (bt878) in the kernel, so i want to recompile the kernel to add support for my device. However, i cant find centOS 4 kernel source code. I have read some messages in the mailing list and someone said that i just need to yum install kernel-sourcecode to get the source code, i did it but i yum reported that there is no package matched. To continue here with problems on this compaq v2000 laptop, I put kernel source on a USB disk and plugged it into the v2000. NOTHING IS recognized. I tried to manually mount the disk and nothing either... I thought USB was well established.... I thought trying to recompile the kernel for realtek support might get my networking going... I am stuck??? Jerry

Hlp with server load

I have a system that is running into problems with high load, however, even when I shut down everything that could be loading the system, the load continues to rise. I can't see anything that is causing the load.
