CentOS 4.1 - Hang on boot

Hi Trying to install 4.1 on a chassis that has an Intel hardware RAID card in it - RedHat 7.3 was fine on this box. On boot the install runs through until i opt to skip the media test - After that it 'loading gdth driver' and the system hangs Any ideas as google is not my friend thanks

hi, for the following packages the CentOS Vendor tag missing in the whole 4.x seriers:-( dhcp dhcp-devel dhclient yours. -- Levente "Si vis pacem para bellum!"

Apache + MYSQL HA Clustering

Has anyone worked with HA clustering for Apache and MySQL? I've looked at Linux-HA, but would like some trench workers views! What works and what doesn't? Thanks, Todd

Postgreql 8

Thank you for the information. We are starting a new project on a dedicated development server. We therefore are looking at designing for v.8 from the outset, anticipating that this will be the common production version by the time the project is completed. I had previously built an early v8 release of Postgresql on CentOS 4, but that machine suffered a catastrophic disk failure and the work was lost. I was hoping, apparently vainly, that in the meantime a yummified rpm package had become available. Ah, well. Back to building the future, one bit at a time. Wherefore whitebox?

Well, I'm a recent convert from WBEL. My biggest concern with CentOS is that the community here seems to want to be more than a recompile of RHEL. But WBEL is floundering, what with Katrina and Rita, and there really being only 1 developer behind it, etc. I offer an automated shell script to switch from WBEL4 to CentOS4 (easy, it's hosted on my home DSL line!) CentOS-4.1 (Final) on Dell Inspiron 9300 Laptop

Hi, I have been using CenOS-4.1 quite sometime now on this laptop. Under CentOS I am having a problem during boots (soft or hard boots) that I never had with any other Linux distros including Fedora 4. I have to reboot the laptop twice as the first boot returns blank screen and hangs when it attempts to bring up login screen. I tested this a few times, there is no disk activity or any sign of OS activity.. In the end I switch the laptop off and start again.. It works fine perfectly in the second boot. Not sure what happens in the first boot (though all startup processes return OK till it gets hung) How can I diagnose this problem..? Is this a known problem..? Is there any workarounds..etc ? Radio software

Hi List, Does anyone know of any type of radio tuner software available for CentOS in either 32 or 64-bit versions? The card is an ATI X600. I've got the video driver from ATI installed, but they do not have any other user level software available. I think I remember reading something about some software being available for the BT chipset, but I'm a tad out of date on that. Also, while in my thoughts, who is the individual responsible for the screensaver(s) creation? I have a fantastic idea I'd love to pass to whoever does the coding. Thanks, -- Snowman

system-config-authentication

I can't find 'system-config-authentication' anywhere in the centos repos. I know its part of upstream... but we don't seem to have it. Am I missing something? -jim

Then they are gone again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
