Dave, What you need is php, msql & apache. You can install all the packages via using yum First execute yum install php php-mysql httpd mysqlclient10 mysql-server yum will resolve all dependences for you and probably will install some additional packages that you may need. If you have some packages already installed yum will tell you ! After installation, you will have to start several services: service httpd start service mysqld start to test that your webserver is running you can use your local browser httpd://localhost the best way to test php is to put a phpinfo.php file in your webserver document root usually in /var/www/html/. Do the following: vi /var/www/html/phpinfo.php insert in the first line: <? phpinfo(); ?> To test php do the following: httpd://localhost/phpinfo.php it will show you your php configuration. Update/upgrade paths?

Good afternoon, Netizens... I have a number of 3.3 CentOS boxes that are quite a substantial distance from my home office. Short of physically going to those sites with a fresh set of CD's in hand, is there a method of remotely (via secure SSH) updating not only the files but the distribution as well, say to 4.1? Can you do a distribution update without using CD's? After a few weeks of experimenting with CentOS 4.1 I am really motivated to upgrade, if for no other reason than the fresh kernel and x.org, to name just a few. PXE Install CentOS-4.1

I am setting up CentOS-4.1 so I can install it via PXE Boot. I have everything working except the only packages available for selection is the Minimal set. The other groups are grayed out and can't be selected. Any ideas? I have also discovered that anaconda does not follow http redirects which is a bit annoying. Running CentOS 4 w/ BlueQuartz on a whitebox, and getting this cron.daily email: /etc/cron.daily/logrotate: error: error running postrotate script Is this a common problem? Thoughts on a typical solution? thnx, Manny

Promise SATA support

Hi List I have a Promise SATA 300 TX ( NOT raid ) that do have RHEL4 driver, but this driver doesn’t work with CentOS4 Why? What can I do to get a driver that works? how do I install mailman in a mail cluster

I am trying to figure out the best way to install Mailman, or any other mailing list software in a mail cluster, i.e. two postfix smtp gatways, two squirrelmail webmail servers, failover cyrus imap servers.. I initially installed it on the same machine as the imap server since this is where the mail ends up and only is delivered through one machine. I have other just technical kludges, like propogating the mailman aliases to the smtp gateway so that it knows what is a local user. i.e. the smtp gateways check ldap to see if a local destination is actually valid before sending the mail to the cyrus mailstore via a postfix relay... How are other people solving this ?

When I was installing CentOS, I noticed among the list of components that PHP and MySQL were available. I made sure they were selected because I develop a lot of web sites in PHP/MySQL, but I always do my testing on the server side. I thought it would be kind of cool if I could do the testing and development on my home machine. Which is a long way of saying that I think I have PHP/MySQL on my machine, but have no idea what the heck to do with them. Portsentry cause IPTable Reloads

I'm having some trouble with portsentry on CentOS. I've installed it and configured it to ignore my network. However, every 20 minutes, it reloads my iptables and basically kills any SSH sessions, etc. Any suggestions? Thanks, Todd
