kickstart editor

Hi, I played with the kickstart configuration editor today. (4.1) I the firewall section I dont see the controls for SELinux? AM I missing something? Where can I control that. I want to disable it in this case. Thanks, Jerry

4.1 x86_64 and stability

Dear All, I have previous posted on here before about some of the problems I have been have with various services in 4.1 particularly, PCMCIA, XFS, and Netowrk. I have a nf4x mobo with an amd semprom 3000+. The video card is an Asus radeon x500 (uses the x300 drivers). I have also tried fedora core 4 as well which the same repeatable results. Basically the problem is the services freeze when they start up, but if I removed them from init.d the computer starts fine and they start fine manually. Yet, when I get going I have several various ata errors, and lets not even think about running gnome which just locks up and hangs. My question is: is the hardware support for x86_64 as good as i386. I just installed i386 4.1 without a hang or any problems. thanks

I/We own the domain dataintellect.com and we have email addresses setup however I always see a bogus dataintellect.com email address as the sender. -or is this simply a random spam email? errors received in logs

now that i am done ranting. i have a question. I received this error today and i think it was today only so far, but the error is as follows. hda: drive_cmd: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error } hda: drive_cmd: error=0x04Aborted Command i did some googling and found some stuff...but some said go out and get another drive this one is going to hard drive heaven very soon... and other said it could be a software doing this and keep an eye on it. then i saw some say about a program called smartctl. is this a program that centos has...if not what is it and where is a good place to get it and is it worth running it? i am running centos 3.5 120gig maxtor. with a 1.8 intel cpu 512 mem. Does anyone use VMWare 4.5.2 on CentOS 4?

I'm trying to use my copy and whenever I reboot I have to reconfigure everything again using vmware-config.pl. Any idea why I might have to do this? Is there something about the way services are setup under CentOS 4 or something? Preston

I would recommend cygwin/X. Todd- What errors are you getting when try to launch an X application? Are you running an X server on your windows machine? Do I need an xserver running on my windows box? That may be my problem. If so, could someone suggest one. X11 forwarding

I need to enable forward the xWindows through my SSH session, but I'm having trouble. I'm using Putty and I've configured it to allow enable x11 forwarding through the ssh tunnel. I've also edited the /etc/ssh/sshd_config and set X11Forwarding yes. After doing this, it's not working. I'm sure there's quite a bit not doing. Could anybody offer any guidance? This is my first attempt to do this. Thanks, Todd

Tyan Thunder K8SE S2892 lm_sensors Config

Tyan has posted a lm_sensors config file for the Thunder K8SE S2892 at ftp://ftp.tyan.com/software/lms/lms_s2892.conf However when I ran the sensors command on my S2892 I was getting a readout for an adt7463 chip that wasn't referenced in the config file. I emailed Raphael Deng at Tyan asking him to confirm the manual edit needed to get sensors.conf to refer to the adt7463 chip. His reply was: > It's ok. You know, lm85 and adt7463 are pretty similar. > Sometimes, hardware designer or manufactory guys will use them mixed. So, in Raphael's sensors.conf replace the line 'chip "lm85-i2c-*-2e"' with 'chip "adt7463-i2c-*-2e"' and all will be well. Kirk Bocek
