Do I need an xserver running on my windows box? That may be my problem. If so, could someone suggest one. Todd- What errors are you getting when try to launch an X application? Are you running an X server on your windows machine? X11 forwarding

I need to enable forward the xWindows through my SSH session, but I'm having trouble. I'm using Putty and I've configured it to allow enable x11 forwarding through the ssh tunnel. I've also edited the /etc/ssh/sshd_config and set X11Forwarding yes. After doing this, it's not working. I'm sure there's quite a bit not doing. Could anybody offer any guidance? This is my first attempt to do this. Thanks, Todd

Tyan Thunder K8SE S2892 lm_sensors Config

Tyan has posted a lm_sensors config file for the Thunder K8SE S2892 at ftp://ftp.tyan.com/software/lms/lms_s2892.conf However when I ran the sensors command on my S2892 I was getting a readout for an adt7463 chip that wasn't referenced in the config file. I emailed Raphael Deng at Tyan asking him to confirm the manual edit needed to get sensors.conf to refer to the adt7463 chip. His reply was: > It's ok. You know, lm85 and adt7463 are pretty similar. > Sometimes, hardware designer or manufactory guys will use them mixed. So, in Raphael's sensors.conf replace the line 'chip "lm85-i2c-*-2e"' with 'chip "adt7463-i2c-*-2e"' and all will be well. Kirk Bocek

mkfs.ext3 on a 9TB volume

Hello, I have: CentOS4.1 x86_64 directly-attached Infortrend 9TB array QLogic HBA seen as sdb GPT label created in parted I want one single 9TB ext3 partition. I am experiencing crazy behavior from mke2fs / mkfs.ext3 (tried both). If I create partitions in parted up to approx 4,100,000 MB in parted, mkfs.ext3 works great. It lists the right number of blocks and creates a filesystem that fills the partition. Any partition approx 4,200,000 MB and larger, mkfs.ext3 sees a totally random number of blocks, equivalent to a few hundred GBs of space. It create healthy partitions, but they are way too small!!! >From dmesg to parted, I can see the system recognizes the hardware properly, including the number of blocks. And I know the upper limit of ext3 is 16TB, not 4! What am I doing wrong? What wall am I hitting around 4TB? HELP!!! CentOS and OpenICDL

Hello, Just wanting to introduce the CentOS community to the OpenICDL project in the hope that we may be able to collaborate. OpenICDL is an open source project that aims to develop and maintain a Free/Open Source version of the training materials used to ready students for the International Computer Driving License certification. We are presently developing release 2.0 of the OpenICDL courseware http://icdl.tsf.org.za/devcourseware.html Module 2 is of particular interest to distros and desktops. The first version of module 2 was written for MDK. http://icdl.tsf.org.za/devcourses/mod2/mandrake/module2-all.html Since then we have received a contribution for RedHat/Fedora http://icdl.tsf.org.za/devcourses/mod2/redhat/module2-all.html Another for Ubuntu. If possible, we would like to extend the possibility to every distro to have a version of module 2 that they can call their own. Since the RedHat/Fedora version is nearly finished, the work to derive a CentOS version would not be that large. If you are interested, or have any ideas, I am interested in hearing from you.
