Intel RAID controller

I have a dell precision 380: http://catalog.us.dell.com/CS1/CS1Page2.aspx?br=6&c=us&cs=555&fm=11210&l=en… with an Intel Matrix Storage Manager ICH7R RAID Controller http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/imsm/sb/cs-020663.htm I need to get CentOS 3 installed on this thing but can't due to the fact that the controller is not supported in 2.4 kernels. There is a patch available from http://iswraid.sourceforge.net/. Question - Since the installer has the "wrong" kernel, how do I go about getting it installed with the patched kernel? -Mark -- Mark Belanger LTX Corporation

Centos 4.1 DISPLAY question

Actually this has nothing to do with ssh... On my box that I have running X windows I can type mozilla in a terminal window and mozilla comes up... no problem. I then stop mozilla. I then do CTL+ALT_F1 to get a console. I login as root. (x windows is not logged in as root). I then type "mozilla --display=machine:0.0" and nothing happens. How do I pop up mozilla and display it in this maner? This represents what I want to do not how I am doing it. DPMS

I'm having a problem with my monitor not turning off after the screensaver times out or, after the set time for the monitor to leave suspend and then off. I have checked, and +dpms is set with correct values. Xscreensaver is set also in advanced to turn off after 30 minutes. Have tried other times, but still does not work. ACPI in bios IS disabled, but I've never had to use that before to turn the monitor off. Suggestions? -- Snowman

Trying to control the torrent of spam...

Someone got ahold of my information (actually, I know who they are - t2net.net - just not how to get back at them) and now I'm getting 4 phone calls a week upwards of 20 spams a day. I'm trying to put an end to the spam at least and the built-in stuff for Evolution isn't working as well as it should I did some Googling on procmail and fetchmail and spamassassin config files and much of this documentation is out of date for CentOS 4.1 because it uses a newer version of spamassassin. Can someone point me in the direction of some example config files that just rewrite the subject lines so I can filter them. An IDEAL setup would be one where spam gets auto-forwarded to the FTC's spam email address and to BlueSecurity.com. But I don't know if such a program exists for Linux. Preston

Centos 4.1 DISPLAY question

I have X running on 4.1. From another PC I use ssh to remote in. from the command line I enter "export DISPLAY=machine:0.0; mozilla" and nothing comes up on the X window screen. mozilla just returns. I then tried in a terminal on X windows issue the command "xhost + " and redid the "export DISPLAY=machine:0.0; mozilla" on the command line with nothing showing on the X window screen again. If I remote into machine and enter the command "mozilla" it will display on my workstation no problem. Why cant I get it to display on the machine:0.0 display? THanks for any help. Jerry

hi all, Where i can found docs about install Xen under CentOS 4 ?? (I only find docs for Fedora). Do I need a precompiled kernel or can I use binary kernel that comes with xen binaries??? Thanks for your comment Scott, The main issue is that the behaviour of the application is also different from fedora to Centos, It simply is not working correctly. I'm not familiar enough with Centos to understand all the differences to RH9/Fedora, but it seems to me that I'm missing some important package that may be needed in a LAMP environment and that yum does not fetch.
