Okay, I'm curious. I just installed CentOS 3.3 and did an update with YUM. I want to run Apache so I first checked to see if it's installed with rpm -q apache. Nada. Yet, in /etc/rc.d/rc3.d I see K15httpd. So I moved that to S15httpd and started it up. It's up. Goto the default page and it's running. So....if it's not showing up in rpm queries, how is/was it installed? -- <<JAV>>

GFS 6.0.2-12

GFS 6.0.2-12 is now available for CentOS-3. This version has some small fixes is but is mostly just to support the new CentOS-3 kernel. The files are available from my site here: http://bender.it.swin.edu.au/centos-3/RHGFS/ Tips for updating: Because the dependencies are a bit screwed (thanks to RH), it is probably easiest to do rpm -U http://bender.it.swin.edu.au/centos-3/RHGFS/GFS-6.0.2-12.c3.1.i386.rpm --nodeps before updating the rest. If you want to use yum, chuck this into your yum.conf for now: [gfs] name=CentOS-3 GFS baseurl=http://bender.it.swin.edu.au/centos-3/RHGFS/ gpgcheck=0 Watch out for /etc/sysconfig/gfs being replaced by the new GFS package. Gang, I've got to admit, what really sold me on debian was apt-get. And I've been resisting getting up to speed with yum. So, can any of ya point me to a good starter page, maybe one with migrators like me in mind? The spec file is still changed to remove reference to Red Hat but the release level is left unchanged. This is just one more little step towards our aim of full compatibility ... To update to this new kernel version run yum update (assuming you havent modified the yum configuration to not update kernels) Then you will need to reboot the machine to use the new kernel. Lance

Help: Apache2, Tomcat5 and jk2_connector

Hello, Does any have Apache 2.0.49 with tomcat 5.5.4 and jakarta-tomcat-connectors-jk2-2.0.4 working??? CentOS-3 x86_64 errata - updated httpd fixes trademark issue

A recent message announced new httpd packages that fixed a trademark issue (refer to https://bugzilla.caosity.org/show_bug.cgi?id=710) These have now been made available for x86_64: RPMS/httpd-2.0.46-44.ent.centos.2.x86_64.rpm RPMS/httpd-devel-2.0.46-44.ent.centos.2.x86_64.rpm RPMS/mod_ssl-2.0.46-44.ent.centos.2.x86_64.rpm SRPMS/httpd-2.0.46-44.ent.centos.2.src.rpm Execute "yum update httpd" to apply. I get this error when I update with Yum. It seems to be with CUPs. I also got this installing MySQL-Server. Should I point to another repo? Or even worry? :) -- <<JAV>>

Hey all, Just wanted to say good job the the CentOS team and community! I am very impressed with the open communication, fast updates (errata, etc), and the supportive nature of the CentOS community. I recently moved my boxes over from Whitebox Ent. Linux (for various reasons) to CentOS, and it was really worth it. I'm glad to be here. =] Keep up the good work, it's appreciated. -Ryan
