An updated redhat-config-printer has been released for CentOS-3 x86 that fixes a bug . https://bugzilla.caosity.org/show_bug.cgi?id=686 refers Updated files are :- redhat-config-printer-0.6.47.3.22-1.i386.rpm redhat-config-printer-gui-0.6.47.3.22-1.i386.rpm in updates/i386/RPMS These are available at http://mirror.centos.org/3.3/ and should be on all mirrors within a few hours. To update to the latest version 'yum update redhat-config-printer' should be sufficient.

VSFTPD / Apache

I have my web files in /var/www/html uploaded using vsftpd, everything is ok there all files in the directory /html appear fine, but when i try to access my folder http://66.196.225.55/mail I get the error below. Notes: There is a valid index.html localed in that folder. /mail folder = drwxr-xr-x all files within /mail = -rw-r--r-- 66.196.225.55 is public addy for ip noted below This is my 1st linux server & could use a bit of quality advise. I would appreciate greatly any assistance. -------------------- Forbidden You don't have permission to access /mail/ on this server. To set a byte size send/receive limit above "standard" 2.5mb of some email providers....is this the "softlimit"?

centos-yumconf purpose

Hello. I did try to find out some information about centos-yumconf, but I didn't find any. I would like to know what centos-yumconf rpm is made for and what it does (just overwrite the yum.conf file, or copy things from the original and create a new one ?). I dont' really understand the necessity of this package, because I thought that the version upgrade was made through the $releasever environment variable. Any help would be much appreciated. Setting up a local yum repository for CentOS-3.1

Is there an approved procedure for setting up a local yum repository which has all the CentOS-3 patches (3.1 & 3.3)? I don't want to have 2 directories, just a single directory which has all the patches I need. I though the 3.3 directory would have these included but it seems not. If I manually upgrade to centos-release-3.3 (before installing all the 3.1 patches) then I will not get any outstanding patches from 3.1, which might be a problem. As a side issue, is there any reasons for anyone not to upgrade to 3.3? and is running 3.1 still secure? i8253 count too high! resetting

I am running Centos 3.3. Is there any way to get rid of this harmless, but annoying message. This is a non-production environment. I tried editing the syslog.conf file and adding: kern.none /dev/console And I commented out the *.emerg line like this: #*.emerg * I also reloaded the syslog daemon after making the changes. anaconda in 3.3?

Greetings, I'm using centos3 to study for rhce, centos came highly recommended in Michael Jang's rhce study guide. I've been having trouble isntalling via nfs, an early exercise in the book, and googling around leads me to think it might be an anaconda bug. I tried following the anaconda link on the "upgrading from 3.1" page but it's actually a duplicate of the anacron link. Does anyone know if this update addresses anything along these lines? Lesson Learned

Hello all, I learned a very valuable lesson this weekend and thought I would share. I noticed that the xcdroastalpha15-rhel3.i386.rpm's non root mode didn't work very well, so I decided to set out an build my own rpm for it. Well I still can figure out how to add icons to the Main Draw but did finally build a good working RPM. However after doing some reading on the Xcdroast web site, It appears that it is known that the xcdroastalpha15-rhel3.i386.rpm does not work in non-root mode very well and that if you want to use non-root mode you should just download the one for RH9 "xcdroast-0.98alpha15-1.i386.rpm". Hello gillian, You can try adding these options to the kernel commandline and it might help: noapic iommu=off The 2.4/2.6 hybrid kernel that RedHat supplies with RHEL3 has some issues with some AMD64 motherboards AFAIK, and the above options made the CentOS 3's kernel bootable for me on one of our systems. BTW - I've moved this to the CentOS mailing list, that is a more appropriate forum for this question. Please remove the caos(a)caosity.org CC if/when anyone replies.
