Hey All, I'm considering moving from CentOS 6 to CentOS 7. I'm not interested in dealing with Gnome 3. I've heard good things about Mate, a fork of Gnome 2. it appears that Mate is available in the EPEL repository associated with CentOS 7. Have any of you tried Mate on CentOS 7? Hello, I'm a little confused on which networking option I need to choose when setting up a VM. I set up two VMs this past weekend both with NAT. Both able to were access the internet. The first one, I created in my / file system but didn't really have the space so I deleted it. The second one, I created in /home/kvm, but deleted it as well when I couldn't access it FROM the internet. I had a full backup scheduled for that night and deleted it as well. I have one of those free domains/DNS from no-ip.com, centos7vm.ddns.net I plan to use as the host name. I want to be able to access this VM from the internet. So, how much in the network setup for the new installation do I need to do? Do I need to go with NAT or bridged? I did four installations last night and could get any of the access the internet with ym. Must have been dumb luck the first two times. I think it maybe something in iptables from one of the previous installs causing the problem. In ifconfig, I still have virbr0 and virbr1. Didn't have those before. mount.nfs: an incorrect mount option was specified

Hey guys, My NFS server has been working really well for a long time now. Both client and server run CentOS 7.2. However when I just had to remount one of my home directories on an NFS client, I'm now getting the error when I run mount -a mount.nfs: an incorrect mount option was specified This is the corresponding line I have in my fstab file on the client: nfs1.example.com:/var/nfs/home /home nfs rw 0 0 I get the same error if I try to run the mount command explicitly: mount -t nfs nfs1.example.com:/var/nfs/home /home mount.nfs: an incorrect mount option was specified This is the verbose output of that same command: mount -vvv -t nfs nfs1.example.com:/var/nfs/home /home mount.nfs: timeout set for Sun Oct 2 23:17:03 2016 mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=162.xx.xx.xx.xx,clientaddr=107.xxx.xx.xx' mount.nfs: mount(2): Invalid argument mount.nfs: an incorrect mount option was specified This is the entry I have in my /etc/exports file on the nfs server /var/nfs/home web2.jokefire.com(rw,sync,no_root_squash,no_all_squash) I get this same result if the firewall is up or down (for very microscopic slivers of time for testing purposes). Unbound, dns64 and CentOS 7

Hi all, Is anyone using unbound to do dns64 on CentOS 7? A quick 'unbound -h' shows both 'validator' and 'iterator' modules, but no dns64. Was it just not included or is there a supplementary or alternative package I need to install? I had it working on CentOS 6 and don't recall any special setup, so when I realized the dns64 module was missing from unbound in CentOS 7, it kinda caught me off guard. jb

CentOS on new Thinkpads

Is anyone running CentOS on a newish Thinkpad? I have been using Linux as my primary workstation since about 97 and it seems like using Linux as a desktop has slipped over the years. After the Gnome desktop dumb-down, I have been nursing CentOS 6.8 on a 5 yo Toshiba. So I was hoping that someone has some recent real-world experience with new Thinkpads. So is anyone running a new Thinkpad? What model? Any problems with wireless or suspend or the touchpad? It seems optical drives are gone. Do I boot the iso from USB or what's the procedure now? Generally seeking new laptop advice. If Lenovo is not good is anyone using Toshiba? Mike

I've had success on "older" model Lenovos.....(T-410 / T-420 / T-430) but anything beyond those seems to have some issue or another. I was even able to swap the standard drive to an SD (250GB) on a T-430 and it's running g like a champ. A lot of the newer stuff is OK as long as you don't have any boutique drivers for video network or sound. YMMV.
