Security patches list not showing

Hi team, Security patches isn't not showing from Centos 5,6 and 7. Tried Steps: First I installed yum install yum-security package Then I tried yum update --security But getting these message No need to update for security patches , 80 available Thanks, Selvin

Problem updating ddclient

when I ran "sudo yum update" on my CentOS-7.2.1511 today, ddclient was updated to ddclient-3.8.3-1.el7.noarch (from 3.7.3), and ddclient.conf was moved to ddclient.conf.rpmsave . When I move it back, "sudo systemctl restart ddclient" fails with the error (in "sudo journalctl -xe | grep ddclient") Apr 21 13:05:39 alfred.gayleard.eu.localdomain touch[8590]: /bin/touch: cannot touch ‘/var/cache/ddclient/ddclient.cache’: Permission denied I see that when updating ddclient a new group ddclient was created. I've tried various methods, eg deleting ddclient.cache, re-installing ddclient, creating a new ddclient.cache owned by root.ddclient, etc, but without success. Running "sudo systemctl restart ddclient" either fails, or hangs. Any advice gratefully received. Is there a way to go back to the previous version of ddclient? when I try "sudo yum downgrade ddclient-3.7.3" I'm told "No package ddclient-3.7.3 available" -- Timothy Murphy gayleard /at/ eircom.net School of Mathematics, Trinity College, Dublin

how to debug authconfig execution

Hello group, Does anyone have an idea how to debug the execution of authconfig? I try to do many changes with authconfig but no files are modified. It seems authconfig does not have a verbose mode or any other way to know what is going wrong with it? Someone have an idea to find out what is going on with authconfig? Thanks,

CentOS 7.2 laptop wireless Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N 2230 (rev c4)

With CentOS 7.2 a laptop wireless card is recognized in dmesg, but nonfunctional. Toggling the hardware wifi switch causes the Bluetooth icon to appear and disappear. The network configuration window shows the Wireless tab greyed out. Rebooting with the bluetooth enabled does not help. It appears the appropriate driver is iwlwifi, which is what works in Fedora and appears to be available and installed in CentOS. lspci gives 08:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N 2230 (rev c4) 1. How do I get this working? I am happy to work with command line tools. 2. Are there other packages I need? I installed wireless-tools, and tried to fiddle with iwconfig and NetworkManager to no avail. iwconfig does seem to interact with the wifi device. 3. Is there documentation I should be following to understand/troubleshoot networking support? https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Laptops/Wireless does not document the iwlwifi driver.

how do I use only black ink?

I have an HP Photosmart C3180 All-in-one. As I haven't had any need for color lately, when I last replaced ink, I only replaced the black cartridge. It didn't work, even when printing grayscale-only images, even when telling print-set-up grayscale-only. Is there a way to tell my printer to use only the black ink cartridge. I already had a CA working, so issuing certificates was easy. The HOW-TO guides were less helpful than I could hope, but comparing several of them, applying common sense, and trying things out, I arrived at a dead-end. Here's essentially what happened: - None of the HOW-TOs were very clear about the need to add some attributes to a certificate, keyUsage and extendedKeyUsage. They had different values for server and client. OpenSSL documentation was a big vague on how to add them, but I think I did - the print out of the entity certificates showed the values. The attempt to connect failed. The client log is below. I think it's complaining that the CA certificate doesn't have the ke Usage extension, which makes no sense to me. Such an extension should be in the end-entity certificate, not the CA's, unless I'm wrong. I checked the server and really think that the certificates are in the right place. Google Chrome and CentOS 6?

Hi all, Just recently I started getting the dreaded message about my CentOS 6.7 x64-installation wasn't going to be supported anymore by Google Chrome. "This computer will soon stop receiving Google Chrome updates because this Linux system will no longer be supported." Doing some google searches I found this; http://superuser.com/questions/1011832/this-computer-will-soon-stop-receivi… Which in itself wasn't too uplifting... Following the suggestion about installing Chromium instead worked, but it seems to be stuck at an ancient version of the browser. Recompiling the available Chromium source is of course an option, but not for me. Not unless there are step-by-step guides doing it. There was a rather long and somewhat heated discussion regarding Chrome on CentOS a while ago. Was there any real conclusion about Google Chrome on CentOS and how to get around this problem? Are the views on this matter still infected?
