Sound card disappears on Acer laptop with latest kernel

4.18.0-240.22.1.el8_3.x86_64 Sound works as expected. 4.18.0-305.3.1.el8.x86_64 only "dummy output" shows up under the Sound Preferences on the desktop. I guess there's a kernel bug somewhere that's causing the driver for that soundcard to not load? Sources will be available from vault.centos.org in their own dedicated directories to match the corresponding binary RPMs. Since there is far less traffic to the CentOS source RPMs compared with the binary RPMs, we are not putting this content on the main mirror network. If users wish to mirror this content they can do so using the reposync command available in the yum/dnf-utils package. All CentOS source RPMs are signed with the same key used to sign their binary counterparts. Developers and end users looking at inspecting and contributing patches to the CentOS Linux distro will find the code hosted at git.centos.org far simpler to work against. Hi, I am referring to https://www.atoptool.nl/netatop.php and installed https://www.atoptool.nl/downloadnetatop.php kernel module netatop on CentOS Linux release 7.9.2009 (Core). How do I check Network activity per process? Hello All, At the moment im using http://mirror.centos.org/centos/8/ repo on my CentOS 8 host and I noticed, that im missing quite many new packages/updates what 8.4.2105 repo contains. Mirrors Sync

Dear All, Is there an issue with some mirrors not syncing properly ? My colleague is reporting , that some mirrors are receiving updates and others are not receiving packages. Some are, according to him, are not receiving updates since March. Is there an issue at the moment ? Any information is very welcome. CentOS 7 getssl script

I am using the getssl script to add a certificate to my server. The script is automatically adding a SANS www.myserver.com when I do not have a www.myserver.com - just simply the myserver.com How can I tell getssl to "not add that SANS" entry ? Thanks, Jerry

kmod removal

Sometime ago I thought I needed kmod-wl to support a new wireless card. Turns out I didn't need to do that. Now I'd like to remove kmod entirely. But when I try I get this: [root@ws1 etc]# dnf remove kmod Error: Problem: The operation would result in removing the following protected packages: systemd-udev (try to add '--skip-broken' to skip uninstallable packages) I am sure I don't want to remove systemd-udev, so I am a loss. I did disable akmods: systemctl disable akmods But I still see that kmod-wl is built each time the kernal is updated. Any suggestions where I can find out how to remove kmod. Note that searching the internet only brings me info on removing kmod-nvidia, and mostly on ubuntu, and they are no help because mostly what they discuss is how get back to neuveau. Even docs I've found that discuss how to install kmod on CentOS say nothing about removal. Emmett

non-functioning printer

In an attempt to diagnose a friend's HP Deskjet D1420, I'm running a Centos 6.10 LiveDVD. The readily visible symptom is that it will accept a job and claim to be printing it, but nothing ever gets printed, not even a test page. The same happens on her Ubuntu system. I recently learned that a blinking power light means that the printer is complaining about something. What? http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00905267#d0e5511enww "If an error message appears Read the error message that explains the problem and its solution." Huh? Where on a Deskjet D1420 could an error message possibly appear? Does it mean this message in /var/cups/error_log? E [13/May/2021:15:18:53 -0400] [CGI] Unable to create avahi client: Resource temporarily unavailable E [13/May/2021:15:18:53 -0400] [cups-deviced] PID 2094 (dnssd) stopped with status 1! Would the presence or absence of whatever avahi is cause the printer to complain? The printer used to print. The hardware connection has not changed in years.
