CentOS 7 boot network problem

I rebooted a new CentOS 7 host and it attempted to start postfix and apache before the network came up. Needless to say both complained that they couldn't bind to the requested IP address and "entered the failed state." Did I miss an option somewhere? The network config is a manual one, and I see from the generated file in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts that ONBOOT="yes"... -- greg

Hi, Disabled ipv6 (using sysctl, disabled ip6tables, no reboot, no proxy present) and still get the message as below. Centos 6.3 (i know its old) Kernel : 2.6.32-279.14.1.el6.x86_64 (I know its old) Standard /etc/yum.conf (no changes) Standard repos (centos base), enabled Cleaned cache: yum metadata (didn't work) Then: yum clean all (didn't work) Then yum makecache (didn't work) Yum repolist Could not retrieve mirrorlist http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=6&arch=x86_64&repo=os error was 14: PYCURL ERROR 7 - "Failed to connect to 2a02:2498:1:3d:5054:ff:fed3:e91a: Network is unreachable" Ping on mirrorlist.centos.org is OK Curl mirrrorlist.centos.org NOT_OK Message started to occur suddenly, I didn't even update any package. Any suggestions ?

Emacs problem

I am currently running the latest kept yum version of emacs on Centos 6.6. The issues I am having is that sometimes when I type input, some of the input randomly disappears and will then reappear when I highlight where the missing input should be. Why might this annoying thing be happening, and is there a way to fix it? Also I have not made any edits to emacs preferences so they are set to the defaults, and never happened in Centos 6.5 but now does in 6.6.

WARNING: No module xenblk found for kernel

ran routine updates on the lernel this morning and got this: WARNING: No module xenblk found for kernel 2.6.18-400.1.1.el5, continuing anyway The only references I can find are a year or so old. Anyone able to comment? or refer me? Upgrading glibc on CentOS 7 to fix memory leak

Hi All, I am in a bit of a conundrum I hope someone could give me some advice. I have a CentOS 7 server which currently runs glibc version 2.17.x. That version contains a memory leak described and fixed here: https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=17370 Suffice to say, this memory leak is causing some serious issues and I have read that upgrading glibc without also upgrading the entire kernel is not recommended. I was hoping that this fix was back ported into CentOS 7 somewhere and maybe there is a quick fix I just don't know about? openvpn client and KDE Network Manager - with CentOS7

Hi All, I am switching from Fedora20 to CentOS7 since I now run all my Linux development in a VM and I get a more robust feature set (i.e. shared folders with the host that "just work", etc) The only issue I have thus far is VPN connections. Looking at what's installed on my old Fedora install I suspect I need these packages: kde-plasma-nm-vpnc kde-plasma-nm-openvpn NetworkManager-openvpn NetworkManager-vpnc However none of these are available in CentOS7, Note I have the centos extras and the EPEL repos enabled. I suspect that I need rpmfusion but I don't see that rpmfusion has a repo for CentOS7... Anyone have any thoughts? Can I simply install the centos6 rpmfusion repo? Thanks in advance

yum upgrade not working

Hey all, I'm attempting to upgrade a Centos 5.9 machine to CentOS 5.10. Yum error

Hi there, I've installed C7 and I'm trying to use targetcli and other. Until yesterday all works good. Today I've runned yum update, that has updated glibc. Then I installed targetcli and targetd. After some operation on an md device like mount/umont. After this, during yum install lsof I get: .....
