Shut down DN2820FYKH with power button

Hello. I've installed CentOS6.5 x86_64 on DN2820FYKH. I want to shut down with power button. But, the acpid daemon cannot work correctly. And, after I selected grub menu, the error message "ACPI: Unable to load the System Description Tables" is displayed. Does this message relate to the issue? I've checked, but the issue doesn't solve: *BIOS update ==> BIOS ver.0028 to 0038(latest) *BIOS setting *Legacy/UEFI boot *CentOS setting ==> /proc/acpi/ directory does not exist. Please can anyone help me with this issue? Regards, Onobori

Geetings, I have a machine with PAM using LDAP. Some old users do not disappear from: * getent passwd But, they are not in: * /etc/passwd or * LDAP Where are they? Any idea? Please, I am affraid of ghost. :-( TIA -- Cosme Faria Corrêa

SSSD and auto.master

Hi, I have successfully configured autofs to use SSSD, which in turn retrieves information from an Active Directory. /etc/nsswitch.conf is set to check 'files sss' and I'd be really grateful if someone could confirm that I have configured my auto.master in a sensible way - it basically calls other auto.masters from AD. /etc/auto.master looks like this: * * * # Default stuff /misc /etc/auto.misc /net -hosts # Records in Active Directory +auto.master-fsa +auto.master-fsb * * * I ask because I have replicated my config on another similar server and SSSD logs report there are no maps which is a little odd. How to update MySQL with CentOS 6 in most unintrusive way - in regard to perl and PHP packages

Dear fellow CentOS users, for my few hobby projects (web games + forums) I have been using CentOS 5 (then 6) with Drupal and PostgreSQL plus few custom PHP and Perl scripts written by mysef. Since PostgreSQL version delivered with CentOS package has been a bit dated, I always used the PGDG packages: # rpm -qa | grep -i pgdg pgdg-centos93-9.3-1.noarch postgresql93-9.3.5-1PGDG.rhel6.i686 postgresql93-libs-9.3.5-1PGDG.rhel6.i686 postgresql93-server-9.3.5-1PGDG.rhel6.i686 As a web developer this has been a very pleasant experience, since (by some great magic) all the other CentOS packages (like php-pgsql and perl-DBD-Pg) just worked with the PGDG packages. Now I have decided to switch to WordPress for my new projects and am (sadly) forced to switch the database too: I have to use MySQL or MariaDB with CentOS 6.5. So my question is: if anybody can recommend a similarly comfortable package repository for MySQL/MariaDB - which wouldn't mess up any other CentOS packages and which would update itself (with "yum update"). And please do not suggest something like Fedora or EPEL repositories, because other than for MySQL/MariaDB I would like not to add any additional packages to have my server as "stable" as possible. [OT] Leveno HDD caddies

This is very off topic but, I have no idea where else to ask. We obtained some used Leveno CTO7483 desktop units for experimentation. I had intended to install CentOS-7 on one of them. As they arrived with a vendor upgraded Windows 7ProSP1 install without media I decided to pull the disk drive and install onto a spare drive that I installed. Those of you with any experience with this model computer or its family can tell where this is going. Basically, the disk drive module for these things is disposable. The HDD is enclosed in a removable caddy but is welded to it. You can only replace the HDD with a pre-mounted HDD in yet another caddy, which item is available only from Leveno. My question is: Does anyone here know of a source for an after-market caddy that fits these machines ad which allows one to install a standard low profile 3.5 inch SATA HDD? My google-fu has failed in my attempts, but that may becuse I have no idea how to phrase a search for this situation. -- *** E-Mail is NOT a SECURE channel *** James B. reset CentOS-7 lost root password

Hie I lost my CentOS 7 root password, so I tried booting the OS in single user mode but it prompts me for the root password when the system boots, Any ideas? Regards Bonnie
