USB-3.0 on C6.5 ??

Just wondering if there are any known issues with USB 3.0 storage devices in Centos 6.5?? I just got one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817332028 it does either esata or USB 3.0. My new motherboard (ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0) supports both, so I've tried both (of course, can't have a feature without at least giving it a whirl! :)). esata seems to work fine, I can copy gigs 'n gigs of data to it using the esata connection. however, with USB3 it works for a bit then something goes wonky... After copying some hundreds of megabytes (and I don't know if it is a consistent number or not) suddenly my C6 box starts reporting write errors. some investigation shows that /dev/sdc (and /dev/sdc1) no longer exist on the system. it takes a reboot to get it back. After which it'll work for a while then the same thing all over again. I've tried a different USB 3.0 cable but it makes no difference. files automatically changing permissionssdsds

hello, I'm running apache 2.2.24 and php 5.2.17. The web site that it's service turns into a 403 Forbidden error every 5 minutes literally. I've found that doing a chmod -Rv 775 on the web root restores the site. However this is a band-aid and no real solution. I've combed through all the cron jobs in /var/spool/cron both on this machine and the one it was recently transferred from. And I can find absolutely NO evidence of any rsync jobs or chowns or anything similar that could be affecting that directory. What I need to do is to figure out how to determine what exactly is changing the permissions on that directory's files so that I can put an end to it. Right now I have a chown -Rv 775 running on the directory every 5 minutes. But that is just going to contribute to load and can't be a permanent solution. The directory in question is on an NFS share. However I am unsure of that being the cause. I'm afraid that I am at a loss for troubleshooting steps here. Centos/RHEL 64bit and ARM questions

I am digging a bit into RHEL 7 roadmap info. It seems there are statements that RHEL 7 will only support 64 bit. Is this corrent, and what for Centos 7? Also the ARM info I found was the target is ARMv8 which is 64 bit, not the ARMv7 which is 32bit. Any clearification is appreciated.

The state of xfs on CentOS 6?

We're looking at getting an HBR (that's a technical term, honkin' big RAID). What I'm considering is, rather than chopping it up into 14TB or 16TB filesystems, of using xfs for really big filesystems. The question that's come up is: what's the state of xfs on CentOS6? I've seen a number of older threads seeing problems with it - has that mostly been resolved? How does it work if we have some *huge* files, and lots and lots of smaller files? mark

Enlightenment and CentOS 6.5

Good morning, I've been looking around for binaries for Enlightenment (>= 0.17) for CentOS 6.5. I've found something called "elementary" from OpenSUSE but I'm not sure what Elementary really is :) Any suggestions? Thanks! Jeff
