RHEL Load Balancer Add-on vs KeepAlived

Hello, I've started reviewing HA solution for HAProxy and trying to decide between RHEL HA Add-on and KeeAlived. Just curious if anyone had a chance to use any of these technologies in a production environment? I would love to learn what your experience with these technologies is in terms of management, scaling, troubleshooting, and monitoring. I am leaning towards RHEL Add-on at the moment because a better documentation, simpler architecture, set-up and management. This project also appears to me to be more active compared to KeepAlived, but I might be wrong. Thanks, Dimitar

clicking on link in Thunderbird fails to open page in Firefox

This worked fine for years until I updated firefox and thunderbird recently. Now, however, when I click on a link in an email in thunderbird, rather than open the indicated webpage in firefox, nothing at all happens. network.protocol-handler.app.http in tbird's about:config specifies the executable /usr/lib/thunderbird/open-browser.sh and running the latter at the CLI with a URL as an arg does work as expected: the spec'd URL is loaded into firefox. So I suspect a bug in tbird. Anyone else having this problem?

Hangs after inactivity

Hi, My linux machine hangs after some period of inactivity (8+ hrs). Anyone experiencing similar issue. CentOS Release 6.5(Final) Kernel Linux 2.6.32-431.el6_x86_64 GNOME 2.28.2 Processor (0 - 7): Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz Any pointers will be helpful. Thanks, --Arvind

oom situation

I have continous oom&panic situation unresolved. I am not sure system fills up all the ram (36GB). Why this system triggered this oom situation? Is it about some other memory? highmem? lowmem? stack size? Dear All I learned to clone my disk as the following : #dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdb As far as I have understood, there is another gui-based utility named clonezilla that can do the same. If I am correct, please let me know how can I install clonezilla on my centos machine to try cloning my disk? Thank you

Serial Console Config in 6.5

Alle, After upgrading from 6.4 to 6.5, our serial console configuration non longer work. We have the following upstart file: [cwfox@hilo ~]$ cat /etc/init/ttyS0.conf # ttyS0 - agetty # # This service maintains a agetty on ttyS0. stop on runlevel [S016] start on runlevel [23] respawn exec agetty -h -L -w /dev/ttyS0 115200 vt100 [cwfox@hilo ~]$ And the following in /etc/securetty: [cwfox@hilo ~]$ sudo tail -2 /etc/securetty ttyS0 ttyS1 [cwfox@hilo ~]$ And finally this is appended to what used to be the kernel (now the module) line in /boot/grub/grub.conf: module /vmlinuz-2.6.32-431.1.2.0.1.el6.x86_64 ro root=/dev/mapper/vg_hilo-lv_root intel_iommu=on rd_NO_LUKS LANG=en_US.UTF-8 rd_LVM_LV=vg_hilo/lv_swap rd_NO_MD SYSFONT=latarcyrheb-sun16 rd_LVM_LV=vg_hilo/lv_root KEYBOARDTYPE=pc KEYTABLE=us rd_NO_DM rhgb quiet crashkernel=auto console=tty0 console=ttyS0,115200 We've tried putting console=tty0 console=ttyS0,115200 in the kernel line, but no joy.
