hw question: asus dsbf-de sata ports?

Hello List, I'm hoping someone else out there has an Asus DSBF-DE server board, and can tell me if anything special needs to be done to get ports 5 and 6 of the onboard SATA to work under Centos 5.1 x64. I have drives on 1 through 4 that are detected and working properly, however, a drive on 5 is not detected, from what i can tell, the kernel doesn't even see phy's for ports 5 and 6. On an older box, unused sata ports were still identified, but showed there was no drive attached. Even hot-plugging a drive into ports 5 or 6 generates no events in dmesg or the system log... it's like those ports are turned off or something. I've checked the bios, and nothing jumped out at me as an obvious switch that says "turn on ports 5 and 6". This board is using Intel's 5000P chipset, and linux appears to have chosen the generic intel_piix driver to access the onboard sata. I have a second sata hba on the system, a supermicro 8 port card, which loads up later using the sata_mv driver, It has no problems right now, and is currently Any ideas? Hello, What can I do when attempting to run depmod with these options: -Ae -b base -F System.map to prevent depmod from appending the following path: lib/modules/2.6.18-53.1.14.el5/modules.dep.temp to the specified base? I am specifying a base as: -b ./lib/modules/2.6.16.23-custom So depmod errors/fails with: FATAL: Could not open ./lib/modules/2.6.16.23-custom/lib/modules/2.6.18-53.1.14.el5/modules.dep.temp btw, '/lib/modules/2.6.18-53.1.14.el5' belongs to the native system that is running on my host Why is depmod using that "system" path? rsync question

Hi folks, I've been trying to wrap my head around this for a bit, done my googling and archive searching but I still can't seem to 'get' it. Here goes: I've a spare drive in my CentOS5.1 box, which (for testing now) I mount manually under /mnt/backup I want to backup the /home tree to that box nightly via rsync (cronjob), so I tried this: rsync -avrogz /home/ /mnt/backup/ All goes well, but it seems that rsync is copying the files and compressing them into an archive....both the file structure and the archive exist. Is there a flag I'm missing, or is there a better, more efficient way to get this accomplished? Thanks in advance, -Ray

I read that XFS has problems with 4K Stack size for Linux on 32-bit systems. How did we address this in the centosplus kernel? Since what release of CentOS was this problem resolved? Is there a quick way to know what size the Linux stack is configured to be in a system's that's running? Thanks for your help.

Setting clock rate on CentOS kernel

Last evening I updated my Cent 5 server to 5.1. All went flawlessly, and it rebooted with the new kernel just fine. How do I set the clock rate on the new kernel? According to documentation it can be done, but everything I read is rather vague. Check out section 3 at the URL below: http://wiki.centos.org/Manuals/ReleaseNotes/CentOS5.1/ I'm using a 32 bit server installation (no graphical stuff) on a Dell Poweredge 2650. I'd like to compare performance of a 100 Hz kernel against a 1KHz kernel. It reads like it's simple enough to set the divider if I just knew where to set it. -- Ben

Apache Authorization Access Control - location of htpasswd in Centos 5.1?

Hi, I’m trying to set up a private family web site for genealogy, and want to set up Apache Authorization access control for this site, and once the user has logged in has access to the entire site. I’ve been reading the info at http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/howto/auth.html to learn how to do this. I’m just planning on passing out the same username and password to all family members and allow everyone in the family to use the same username and password, to keep things simple. The server is running Centos 5.1. The first problem I am running into – I’m trying to use the htpasswd utility that came with Apache 2.2 to create a password file. The default location according to above URL is in /usr/local/apache2/bin/htpasswd but apparently it’s not located there in my install. I tried creating a password file by executing htpasswd -c /passwd/passwords famsite but apparently htpasswd is not in my path, I’m getting the “cannot create file /passwd/passwords famsite” error. Anyone know where the default location of htpasswd is on a centos 5.1 install? I personnaly like the combination: Postfix, Mailscanner, Group-Office. Group-office has the functionality i need (email, calendar, calendar sharing, tasks, filemanager, addressbooks, projectmanager etc... Yet is quite simple to setup and use... In the professional version there is also a synchronisation option to sync with outlook... I don't think it's the path of htpasswd that's the problem but here it is anyway: /usr/bin/htpasswd. The problem is more likely that the directory you're trying to create the password file in with the command "htpasswd -c /passwd/passwords famsite" doesn't exist. Hi all I'm getting this message on my CentOS 5.1 Xen VPS, after a yum update on a CentOS 5.1 x64 server. The main server runs CentOS 5.1 x86, Linux 2.6.18-53.1.13.el5xen #1 SMP Tue Feb 12 13:33:07 EST 2008 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux The VPS runs on CentOS 5.1 x64 Linux 2.6.18-8.el5xen #1 SMP Thu Mar 15 19:56:43 EDT 2007 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux As such, I cannot ping the VPS from the main server, nor the main server from the VPS (I use xm console vm01 to enter the VPS). Any idea how I can fix this? If I read correctly - the 5.2 release will have xen 3.0 Does that mean I will be able to run vista as guest operating system? I seem to remember reading that vista could be run under xen 3.0 I have found instructions for installing XP under xen 3.0 in Debian, so I'm hoping it vista on CentOS 5.2 will also be possible ?? There's only a small handful of apps I need/want - but they don't do well under wine (IE garmin software for putting maps on my GPS) - and I don't want to dual boot.

using conf.d files to override options in httpd.conf

Like many of you, I like to avoid modifying /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf as much as possible. Instead, modifying or adding files in /etc/httpd/conf.d However, because /var/www/html is declared within the main httpd.conf and certain directives are set along with "AllowOverride None" (thus forbidding use of .htaccess), it seems like the only way to override any of these options is to modify httpd.conf directly. If nothing else, at least setting "AllowOverride" to something besides None. Is that correct? Or does anyone know of a way to leave httpd.conf pristine, yet still override or set directives for /var/www/html? johnn

raid1 custom initrd and yum

OK sorry to hammer the list but one more question - having almost got the drives mirrored and happy - since I have created a custom initrd that has the raid1 drivers in it, do I now have to tell yum to ignore kernel updates? Will the stock kernel render me unbootable? Actually I am not 100% sure the initrd I created # mkinitrd -f --preload=raid1 /mnt/tmp/initrd-`uname -r`.img `uname -r` is even being used, because lsmod still lists a raid1 module. Wouldn't it be "embedded" in the running kernel and thus not in the module list? either way I am a little confused and this is important ;) best regards and thanks to all for the help, Sam

Icon .png file loading error after graphics driver upgrade

Dear, I updated my nvidia graphics driver on one of the CentOS boxes. When I log in my account, icons are not displayed correctly. They are displayed as small empty squares, and there are error messages like "Fater error: failed to load <file name>.png : version error" for each icon. If I log in as super user, everything is OK. Icons are OK. No error messages. Do you have any idea? Thank you. -john

DNS in CentOS

Hello, Am running Bind 9 in Cent OS 5.1. I have a DNS server, that: - DNS server to hosts in lab.company.com - 192.168.17.x - forwards query to company.com - 10.100.x.x. Problem: 1. FQDN and by-IP-address ping and nslookup is successful. 2. ping/nslookup by host-name-only --- from any 192.168.17.x hosts to any 10.100.x.x hosts fail and vice versa. I have setup the DNS of lab.company.com - to forward query to the DNS server of 10.100.x.x.hosts through the /etc/named.conf - options { listen-on port 53 { 127.0.0.1; 10.100.1.5; }; forwarders { 10.100.1.5 port 53; }; What tools/logs can I check to troubleshoot this? should I be configuring this as a forwarder or should I configure my DNS as a subdomain to the company.com DNS? pls advise. -- best, Vince

Applications staying open in Gnome

CentOs 5.1 updated with Gnome as desktop. I notice that after a reboot some applications reappear mysteriously. It seems that the last application that was closed *before* reboot reappears. For instance I had gedit appearing for some time, opened with a blank "unknown document". Now I'm getting the hardware manager/soundcard section opened on the desktop each time I reboot because that was the last application I had open *and* closed a few reboots ago. I haven't tried many other applications as I do not use many. Applications that do not behave like this are terminal and the file manager. They appear like normal on the screen if they were open before the reboot. The only oddity about them is that if two of them were open only one reappears and terminal never opens on the position it was before. That may be a shortcoming of the Gnome window manager. Problem with dhcpd and bootp

In order of making it easier to differentiate between existing clients and clients that I bring up only for installation and configuration I tried the following configuration. subnet 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 { pool { range 192.168.1.101 192.168.1.150; default-lease-time 86400; max-lease-time 604800; } pool { range dynamic-bootp 192.168.1.151 192.168.1.180; default-lease-time 600; max-lease-time 86400; next-server 192.168.1.231; filename "pxelinux.0"; } } in the hope that bootp-clients would get an IP from the second IP range. Documentation of dhcpd doesn't say if using two pools in one subnet is actually allowed. It works. Sort of. Many hardware clients, clients from VMWare server and from xen get an IP from the second range and pxe-boot. But there are clients who should pxe-boot but get the first IP number and won't pxe-boot. An example are HP Proliant DL140 servers. Can I do it different, so it works for all clients? Does the HP server use another method than bootp for getting the boot image? Sendmail used to automatically compare creation dates of the text and database aliases files and when the text one was newer than the database one, sendmail would automatically update the database file at a convenient time. centos 5.1 x86_64 and ztdummy

Anyone out there using Centos 5.1 asterisk (ztdummy) x86_64, 2.6.18-53.1.14.el5 kernel? I seem to be having problems with simple playback on asterisk(). If I do the normal service zaptel start (my configs have 0 hardware cards for asterisk) ztdummy is loaded and when doing a playback() I head no audio. If I unload ztdummy and do the same I hear playback. Please dont jump the gun hear and say this is an asterisk issue as I dont think so... This seems to be kernel related. perhaps an RTC (real time clock) thing? This version of asterisk has always worked for me before on centos 5.1 but now there is a newer kernel. Any one know anything about this? Jerry

The excuse given for removing the automatic update of the aliases database file was that it was a security issue. The thought was that someone could tapper with the file and cause problems. However, all these files are checked for proper file permissions and if they are not set correctly, sendmail will not work or at least give a warning. If someone nasty has permission to change the aliases text file, then they have permission to reck a lot more havoc on your system anyways and this change isn't going to help any. Personally, having sendmail do it itself is safer than me doing it manually. What if I'm in the process of updating the file at the same moment sendmail needs it. Sendmail could read a partial file and cause more problems. I see this already with the access file. With sendmail doing it on it's own, I don't have to worry about it. It will update it when it needs to.

Actually it *IS* a source change. The `confAUTO_REBUILD' option has been deleted from the sendmail source files for some time now. One can put that option in the sendmail.mc configuration file, but it will not be used because it isn't in the source any more. I've double checked this and have looked at the source. Now, I suppose if one isn't using a current version of sendmail, then this option may still be in the version you are using.

Hi, I'm looking for common practices for backing up user data to disk. My user data is all in /home. I'm also interested in what folks are doing for things backing up os and configs. Any pointers on setting up rsync, cpio, etc would be appreciated. Pointers to good how-to's especially welcome. Currently we're using Arkeia Network Backup (commercial product with which I am in no way affiliated), and it's great, but with disk space so cheap, I'd love to be able to take my current non-raid setup and find a way to get up and running quickly in the case of some failures. atrpms nvidia cannot load

Hi guys - brand new 5.1 install here and quite happy - but... The nv driver did not work at all for me, fritzy stripes and dots. This is a GeForce 7300 LE which was working happily dual-head under FC6 with the livna nvidia RPMs So I looked around and it seemed like the ATRpms repo via yum was the best option for CentOS. This is what I installed, it worked great with the xorg.conf from the old system. But then I did a 'yum update' to the system and got a new kernel from centosplus (?). Now the nvidia module won't load. It's not happy with the new kernel. I am at a loss as to how to make it happy? what is the best way to install the closed-source drivers? direct from nvidia? recomplile them? Is there some gap between updates kernel and the atrpms modules? and in advance I am SORRY if this has been beat to death. I know ~75% of the traffic on the Fedora list was about nvidia woes and flames. Lame, but the DRI does work well on these and my daughter likes to play games. best, Sam

my centos switched alone its root fs to read-only

My test server was in very eavy load, running kolab's components: postfix, cyrus-imap and openldap A second test machine was sending, and reading emails as fast as it can. The CPU was never idle ! I left the server at about 17H30 and at 22H I find it "uncommitted" (difficult to work when the partition in read-only !) However the mount command report it as RW ! Hi All, Short description of the problem: - I would like to install the complete 'xfce' desktop on CentOS5.x I've tried: yum groupinstall xfce yum groupinstall xfce4 yum groupinstall xfce* yum groupinstall xfce4* yum groupinstall xfce4.2 yum groupinstall xfce4.1 yum groupinstall xfce4.3 yum groupinstall xfce4.4 yum groupinstall xfce4.4.2 .... etc etc ... nothing worked then I've started googling the net and .... ____finally____ I found the magic combination. One very merciful soul posted the golden combination. yum groupinstall "XFCE-4.4" This did the trick. God bless him/her and all his relatives. He/She deserved it. question: Is there a way to check which packages are available for the installation as a 'group' using yum ? Anyone else see this or have a solution? Tried forcing sky2 module, but init just says device does not seem to be present even tho lspci shows it on the bus. Is there another kernel module that also needs to be loaded besides sky2.ko? (got sky2 information from a fedora 8 install on same machine).

RAID1 migration - /dev/md1 is not there

I am trying to convert an existing IDE one-disk system to RAID1 using the general strategy found here: http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2005-March/003813.html But I am stuck on one thing - when I went to create the second md device with mdadm, # mdadm --create /dev/md1 --level=1 --raid-devices=2 /dev/hdb2 missing mdadm: error opening /dev/md1: No such file or directory And indeed, ls /dev/md* shows only md0, which worked fine. I do have the 'raid1' kernel module loaded. What am I missing? Do I need to create the nodes manually now? thanks -S

Hi, I am trying to install Gnumeric in CentOS 4 and I can't. It complains about quite a few dependencies failing. It suggested installing some postgresql librairies, openldap librairies... I did that, now I still get: dependencies failed: libmdb/libmdbsq/libsqlite/libxbase/libtds. Is there a yum repository that has them or a yum repository for gnumeric? I have tried Dag, he does not, he has libgda, but that has other requirements... -- Thanks

backup to disk

Hi, I'm looking for common practices for backing up user data to disk. My user data is all in /home. I'm also interested in what folks are doing for things backing up os and configs. Any pointers on setting up rsync, cpio, etc would be appreciated. Pointers to good how-to's especially welcome. Currently we're using Arkeia Network Backup (commercial product with which I am in no way affiliated), and it's great, but with disk space so cheap, I'd love to be able to take my current non-raid setup and find a way to get up and running quickly in the case of some failures. New firefox causing anyone else problems - CentOS 4.X?

Looks like Firefox may be getting another update soon, if my problem is not atypical. Prior to the latest, had NP for *months*. Anyone else seeing any problems? the "official" lightweight desktop environment for CentOS?

I want to build a dedicated MythTV box using CentOS5. I need a lightweight desktop environment, something extremely simple that does not use much memory. Gnome and KDE use way too much memory and are too complex for what I want to do. The system will login automatically to a certain account after booting up. After the automatic login, it will start immediately the MythTV frontend full-screen. If the frontend dies, the desktop needs to logout / log back in automatically. No other application will run on this machine, only mythfrontend. There will only be one account. Think of it as a single-purpose appliance, not a regular computer. Whatever I use as the desktop environment, it needs to be pretty standard - either included in the distribution proper, or in one of the major repositories. It must be very trivial to enable, with no hacking required to the OS. It must play well with mythfrontend, I don't need any compatibility issues. It must be a stable, reputable software. Weird that it causes the driver module not to load. The original owner suggested that might be the problem so, after trying a CentOS 5.0 kernel and building and trying a 2.6.24.4 kernel I decided to crack the case. I pulled the cable for the case's front audio and mic off the motherboard and tried with that configuration. The good news was I no longer got the error documented in my earlier e-mail but still no sound. The case's front panel audio had two different connectors so I decided to try the other one and suddenly I had sound. No idea what the difference is between the two connectors. What's really strange is both front audio connection jacks are keyed correctly for the front panel audio out on the motherboard. It's just one works and the other doesn't. Help in troubleshoot cause of high kernel activity

Hi, I had been experiencing a problem on our dedicated server running Centos 5, and unable to successfully track down the problem. Since about 6 days ago, I noticed a spike in load/CPU utilization which went from a typical 0.2x-0.3x to 3.x. At the same time, average traffic also went up and so did the log usage. Prior to this, the server was working fine and there had been no changes to the configuration. Initially, I narrowed it down to the mail system. Exim was generating significantly more log data than usual. This was eventually narrowed down to apparently our server and another server playing ping pong between two users who coincidentally were on vacation and had both their mailboxes filled. Thus it caused an endless loop of "Message Undelivered" and "Auto-reply". Once this was identified and cleared up, I had expected things to go back to normal. However, load/traffic remained high. Looking at "top" output, I noted that %sys was as high and often much higher than %user. However, individual process %CPU just didn't add up to the total top was reporting. Since %sys is consistently highest, it appears that the kernel was doing something outside of norm. The problem is I have no idea what else to do to determine what "something" is. I've looked at netstat and there doesn't appear to be excessive connections, logwatch summary also does not appear to give any clue as there are no records of unusual failed log in attempts. A few questions regarding CentOS (5.0)

Hello list, I'm a former Trustix User (were active in that community since the very first betas), and now that my dear distro is dead, I'm looking to make a switch.. Several people recommended CentOS, so I decided to give it a spin.. I installed one new server with 5.0 a few months back, and I do have a couple of questions.. - Why does the screen flicker on and off several times during boot and when logging in? - Why does floppy.so get loaded? I have no floppy, and having floppy.so loaded while installing certain packages is dreadfully slow. - When I chose a pure console environment, without any X11 stuff, why did a bunch of gnome packages get installed? - Is it possible to get a php-mssql package? -I need this if I'm going to use CentOS at work.. World Writable Files

I'm curious. Why are so many system-generated files world-writable? On my Mandriva laptop, every day I get warnings that world-writable files are found in /tmp, /far/lib/ /var/run/ and /var/spool, and every day msec reports that it has changed the mode of several files in /var/log/. Why are they created like that? Anne

SSl Certificate problem

Hi, I have a c4 server that I am trying to migrate an ssl site over to a new C5 machine with all of the updates. The certificate is an equifax cert and works as advertised on the C4 server. When I move it over to the C5 machine I get error in firefox that says error code -12227 which http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/pki/nss/ref/ssl/sslerr.html says is an SSL_ERROR_HANDSHAKE_FAILURE_ALERT. In addition it says that this means that "SSL peer was unable to negotiate an acceptable set of security parameters." If I try to open the site in IE, it prompts for a client certificate. This fails because I am not using client certs. In the apache config for ssl.conf I have "SSLVerifyClient none". I have also tried setting it to "optional" with the same results. In the past moving these sites to a different machine was as simple as copying the certs and the config files over to the new machine, reloading httpd and everyting just worked. Is there something different about ssl on C5? Does anyone know a good way to troubleshoot this. Google and the docs are not helping. What am I missing? Hi i have freeradius mschap ldap working configuration - i am using it for pptpd (VPN server) to authentificate against freeradius with ldap . Windows VPN client can connect to our company network and use it. Next i want to add user/password auth to our WIFI (based on Dlink AP - with radius support). We are currently using wpa-preshared key. i want to use wpa enterprise with ldap authentification (providing username and password) without need to install any certificate on windows. First to make a clear - how do i achieve it? --- i mean exactly which protocol i need to use and how it works (some shortcut to such howto) How do i arrange to use same freeradius for currently working VPN and for my plan to make wpa enterprise. Will I have manual edit any configuration files? Next question is the machine has 256MBs of ram and Dom0 uses about 225MBs of it. Is that a bit much? VmWare Server does not use that much ram. See #top Below....With out running the Xen Kernel it has no where near the ram usage as with the Xen one. Cisco PIX vpn software

Yum update erased jdk, jre, and fuse-davfs2

I just did a yum update. It pulled in a number of updates including the latest firefox and davfs2.i386. Then I watch the following show up during the cleanup phase of yum (/var/log/messages): Mar 28 15:42:18 nc2400 Erased: jdk Mar 28 15:42:25 nc2400 Erased: jre Mar 28 15:42:31 nc2400 Erased: fuse-davfs2 Are the first jsut removal of the alternatives? How do I tell and how do I find that message where I got what to do. There were soo many "alternatives" I tried til I got it right...... And something did happen to fuse-davfs2, becuase I now get: /sbin/mount.davfs: can't open fuse device /sbin/mount.davfs: trying coda kernel file system /sbin/mount.davfs: no free coda device to mount BTW, yes, I did reboot after the update.

I came into an Abit AX8 motherboard and single core AMD Athlon 64 FX. I did a quick install of CentOS 5.0 on it to make sure everything worked and then returned the hard disk and case to the original owner. After getting a new case and hard disk, I downloaded the CentOS 5.1 cd images and installed. I have port 143 open so that I can get my mail when away from home. I have 2 questions dealing with 2 different kickstart files. 1) my kickstart sections for RAID disk setup and kickstart reports it cannot find sda. arp_filter

Hello all, I have an annoying networking issue. The value of arp_filter is getting changed. /proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/eth0/arp_filter 1 I specifically set it to 0 via /sbin/ifup-local. The hosts in question are setup to test some network gear, and they all have 1 "management" interface and 1 or more through put interface. mysql-server installing...or not`

Hi all, I've got a clean CentOS 5.1 install and need php/mysql support. Seems mysql (client) is installed, but I need server, so I did yum install mysql-server and got the errors posted below. Have I missed something or is there a problem with this package? Commandline utility to edit ID3 tags?

Hi, I'm running a webradio on our brandnew CentOS 5.1 database server. (The main purpose of this radio is fun, sure, but it's also a bit like a canary in a coalmine...) It's based on Icecast, MPD and NCMPC and works great. I'm configuring the server remotely via SSH, no X. Is there any commandline utility to edit ID3 tags? Cheers, Niki

USB printer stops working?

I have recently attached a USB to my centos 5.1 NAS server. The printer works for about 5 minutes after the box has started but after that it stops working. CUPS says the device is busy. If I print stuff, reboot the server and go into cups it mentions an error about HAL failing, i click start printer anyway and all the documents I have printed will be printed. Someone mentioned it might be USB power saving, if this is the case how do i turn it off? Alan

I am likely going to switch a desktop over from Windows to either CentOS or Fedora and run two CAD apps that now have Linux ports. I was wondering as I can't seem to find much specific info about the support of OpenGL in RH based OS's. Does CentOS support this out of the box or do I need to do anything with it? Deleting file in /tmp directory

Hi, This is a bit of-topic, but since it has to do with /tmp permissions here it goes. Anyway, I'm sorry in advance for posting this. I have this PHP script (simplificated here), called delete_tmp.php that basically calls external commands: <?php $session_file = '/tmp/sess_89765' system(''rm -f' . ' ' . $session_file); ?> delete_tmp.php file is owned by gamito.users /tmp/sess_89765 file has permissions -rw------ and is owned by gamito.users My /tmp permissions are rwxrwxrwt and is owned by root.root I know that the the sticky bit only allows files to be deleted by their owners, the owner of the directory or by root. Never the less, i can switch to /tmp directory and delete sess_89765 file as user gamito. If I run: $ php delete_tmp.php as root, it deletes sess_89765 file. But if I do the same has user gamito, it doesn't delete the file !!! Ideas ? Any help would be appreciated. Warm Regards, Mário Gamito

Hi, Thank you for your answer. After a little more research, I found out that the line containing the word 'gamito' is huge and yet it scrolls so fast in the screen that I can barely see it. I tried redirecting the output of the grep to a file and that huge line went in to it. So, I've tried a double grep: $ grep 'gamito' file | grep 'gamito' but without success. Well, my question now is, how do I get the word 'gamito' alone from the file ? Any help would be appreciated. Strange behavior from grep

Hi, It's been a long time since I've been noticing a strange behaviour from CentOS grep command. But today, I really need it. I have a file that has the word gamito inside of it. If I run $ grep 'gamito' file it returns nothing. Yet, if I run $ grep -c 'gamito' file It returns 1 which is right. The mind boggles. Does anyone ever had this problem or am I missing something here ? Any help would be appreciated. Warm Regards, Mário Gamito

Sector 0 I/O error harmful?

I have a bunch of these scattered through /var/log/messages on a couple of servers: I/O error: dev 08:20, sector 0 The server functions just fine. Anyone have an idea what might be causing this error?

Installing Postfix/Dovecot

I have just installed CentOS 5.1 on my home server and I am trying to set a mail server. I have diligently followed the instructions on the Wiki - How To on the CentOS website (http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/postfix) However I cannot send internal email (I haven't yet tried externally). Do you have any suggestions on what to check? To test it I used two normail user: giulio and federica. I logged in as federica and sent an email to giulio with the mail programme. Is this correct (i.e. using the mail programme)? There is one thing that I don't quite understand from the instructions. In section 3.1 it's suggested to set mynetworks = 192.168.0.0/24, 127.0.0.0/8 in the /etc/postfix/main.cf file. My home network however is 192.168.69.0 and actually the IP assigned to any computers in the networks start from 192.168.69.20. So I changed mynetworks to 192.168.69.0/24 and also 192.168.69.19/30 (as my server IP address is actully 192.168.69.25). I don't think this is the cause of my problem anyway, because it didn't work even with the value suggested by the Wiki page. Thanks for you help Giulio
