attempting to create directory /root/perl5

Dear All, Could someone give me some pointers. I never had it on CentOS 4,5,6. On freshly installed CentOS 7 ("development workstation" installation type with several extra things) when I log in as root in console I get this message: attempting to create directory /root/perl5 and indeed empty directory /root/perl5 is being created. (And my understanding is that that is done for every user at login). Can anyone point to what does it and what is the rationale behind that. Not that I no not like perl in particular, but I do not like any tweaking of anything happening as a user logs in. Thanks for all your help. Upgrade Tool Docs: http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/CentOSUpgradeTool Make sure you listen to the tool if it tells you that you have Medium, High, or Extreme issues and mitigate them before trying to upgrade. You can not upgrade if you have a GNOME or KDE desktop, for example. Let's give this a try and hopefully we can move this out of testing and into Extras next week. Thanks, Johnny Hughes

Do you need cron installed for the files in /etc/cron.daily/ to execute? Did a Centos 6.x minimal openvz install and noticed cron is not installed by default and after installing mlocate cant help but wander if it will be updated without it.

So want to come on bridge. As per my understanding bridge can not work while device is managed by NetworkManager. Is there any utility or tool to use to scan wireless device in network and connect them as i want to stop to use Networkmanager to use laptop wireless interface as bridge for my guest vm. Thx Ben

Hello, i've been struggling hard to setup our automated PXE/kickstart system using various local mirrors but it alway hung after partitioning with no further exception. When I encountered squshfs errors on the Console (text based / kickstart installation) I re-synced (rsync) with CERN mirror afterwards with switch.ch mirror and fh-esslingen - But the squashfs image remained corrupt. To prove my suspicion i've finally copied the file from Netboot.iso into our local mirror and voilà - finally the installation works as expected. Just wanted to let you know - it might save man people from many hours of trouble ... Please check - and keep up the great work :-) Cheers Andreas

[sssd] Not seeing Secondary Groups

I am currently looking at migrating my existing CentOS6 servers over to CentOS7 and am currently testing out my sssd configuration on the new build with some issues. For some reason I am unable to see any secondary groups for my user like I would expect, and the /etc/sssd.conf, /etc/nsswitch and related /etc/pam.d configurations should be the same for both my CentOS6 and 7 servers (Configuration is currently puppetized). How to Stop the Image URL in apache

Hi, While clicking on the image it opens into the browser. I dont want to allow client to open the image in browser as separate url. I have blocked the /image/ directory from access/listing , but the image is opening. ex. http://example.com/images/1.jpg . The image should not open in browser with this URL. How to stop that in apache. Please help me. Shital S.

Hello everyone. I have a fresh install of Centos 7 server. I would like to use my AD users to login via ssh into this Centos server. In version 6 I had to configure /etc/nslcd.conf and pam. Do you know any good tutorials or do yo have any advise how to start and which packets I need. Thanks for answers. Best regards. Luka

I'm not fully up to speed yet - we've *just* set up a workstation to play with with a fresh upstream release - but in nssswitch we're telling it to use files sss, and in sssd.d/sssd.conf, our domain, that our auth_provider is krb5 (we are using kerberos), id_provider is ldap, and a few other lines. We also have krb5 configured to use the AD. Hope this is a start. mark

LVM - VG directory not being created

Hi all, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but it's worth a shot. I have installed CentOS 6.5 on one of our servers, and have just installed SolusVM. I have also set up LVM, with a PV on /dev/sda4 (which is GPT formatted, and 3.12TB is size). The problem I'm having is that when I create the VG, it will not show up under /dev/<VG-name>, which it's supposed to according to Red Hat guides on LVM. On a CentOS 5.9 server, with an almost identical set up, the VG showed up under /dev/ correctly, so I'm wondering if the VG folder is stored elsewhere in CentOS 6? I have tried the obvious solutions, such as a reboot, vgscan, pvscan, and even partprobe. I have even tried running 'find' in search of the VG name, which returned no results. I had a drive failing on a server. I've replaced it. The old drive was /dev/sdb; the new one's /dev/sdd. The manpage and googling are failing me - anyone know how to tell smartd to stop trying to read /dev/sdb (which I've pulled, and is sitting here on my desk)? I don't need the garbage in the logs, and no, I can't just reboot the server, since it's a home directory server.... mark

I tried adding biosdevname=0 when installing CentOS 7 witht the Everthing USB stick (nice) but the names are eth0 its something like enp3s0... Is there not a way to use the old names any more? Thanks, jerry

I'm getting errors: '/lib64/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.14' not found' and '/usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.14' not found'. Is there a way to make a backward-compatible binary? If not, is there a sane way to build something that needs gcc 4.8+/boost 1.5.3+/cmake 2.8 on Centos6? I found the devtoolset-2 software collection with a usable gcc, but no boost. Anyone using CentOS 6 on PC104 stacks?

Is anyone using CentOS 6 on PC104 stacks? I have tried a couple of different CPU cards with CentOS 6.5 [no updates]. I can install with the Install DVD to the PATA hard drive just fine, but they each hang up while the installed system is trying to get UDEV going. And by "hang up" I mean a) leave the machine setting for hours and it never gets udev started, AND b) the keyboard has gone non-responsive (power switch is the only way out). Note1: each board and drive works fine under CentOS 5.9. Note2: for the purposes of this test all other boards have been removed, it is just the CPU board and an power supply. Granted that does leave the video chip, serial chip, audio chip, usb chip, and memory (which was memtest86 for 50 hours in this config). Has 6 dropped support for ISA somehow? Any ideas on what might be wrong or where to start debugging? I have tried: Setting selinux to permissive (there was a udev issue in 6.0 where this was needed) Removing quiet and RHGB from the boot, so I can see what is going on In /etc/udev/udev.conf set udev_log="debug", but this seems to just information overload, AND It never stops at the same set of messages. Even booted with udevtrace. Syslog has not started, so there is nothing in /var/log/messages Moved /etc/udev/rules.d/* to /etc/udev/rules.distro/ so that rules created at install time, under the install dvd's kernel, are not causing issues. Though I did move one file per boot attempt, newest first. (yes I have reached desperate stage) Thanks for any pointers. Even when this disclaimer is not here: I am not a contracting officer. I've a 7 box (actually, it's RHEL, but the general list there is moribund), and I'm trying to configure it "correctly" so that it gets its hostname from the DHCP server. All I've found so far is a script to use from hooks of some kind. *Surely* there's just a configuration file option somewhere.... mark

Can't add printer

I tried to add the printer: HP Color LaserJet CP4020 Series Printer but CentOS 7 must not know what driver to use. I was able to add a brother 7050 printer (with an HP compatible driver??) Is there a way to get a driver for the hp cp4020? I googled for centos and this hp printer and looked on the hp driver site, but didn't find any info. Thanks, -wes

kickstart partition without home

I am trying to finish off a kickstart file for a computer lab on CentOS 6.5 machines. I don't want to have a separate /home as I'm going to add an entry in fstab for it to nfs mount /home from a server. Is there a way to have it autopart the rest of the file system without /home? Wanting to keep autopart for size since not all hard drives across the labs are the same. CentOS7+kickstart+thinpool = error/exception

Hi, I'm trying to create a kickstart file that uses a thinly provisioned lvm volume as root but I've run into trouble. I installed a System manually using this option and this is the anaconda file produced: part /boot --fstype="xfs" --ondisk=vda --size=500 part pv.10 --fstype="lvmpv" --ondisk=vda --size=7691 volgroup centos_centos7 --pesize=4096 pv.10 logvol --fstype="None" --grow --size=1232 --thinpool --name=pool00 --vgname=centos_centos7 logvol swap --fstype="swap" --size=819 --name=swap --vgname=centos_centos7 logvol / --fstype="xfs" --grow --maxsize=51200 --size=1024 --thin --poolname=pool00 --name=root --vgname=centos_centos7 The Problem is that when I use this as the basis for a kickstart Anaconda complains that I need to specify a mount-point for the logvol line defining the thinpool. So I looked at the kickstart documentation here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Anaconda/Kickstart#logvol There is says "--thinpool Create a thin pool logical volume. (Use a mountpoint of "none")" so I went ahead and specified a mountpoint "none". The result is that Anaconda now crashes with an exception. Does sombody know how I can install CentOS 7 using a thinpool? The features of thinly provisioned lvm volumes make them highly desirable for database backups for example. Regards, Dennis

abrt relevance?

I am trying to understand the relevance of the abrt program. It pops up automatically when somethings acts up, but I can't submit anything to RH, because I haven't paid their fees. It is a very bad user experience to go through the whole process of describing what led up to the problem and get to the end of the process and be rejected with an un-fixable error message (because I didn't buy RHEL support). It seems to me that either: 1. It should be modified so that it points to somewhere that I can file a report (such a place probably doesn't exist). or 2. It not automatically activated (because it is irrelevant to most users). or 3. It should be modified so that it creates a file for submission. Anybody have any reason to have it act the way it does on C6.5? Ted Miller Elkhart, IN P.S. It would be nice if anyone has a hint about why KDE desktop keeps giving me "Process /usr/bin/plasma-desktop was killed by signal 11 (SIGSEGV) errors. My desktop (but not the windows on it) goes black. Usually it comes back in 2-4 seconds, but sometimes it disappears and stays gone. Then I can switch windows with Alt+Tab, but can't open any new ones, and the only way to log out is Ctl+Alt+Backspace.

The minimal install iso media is an alternative install to the main CentOS-7 distribution and comes with a trimmed down, preselected rpm list. However, it still runs off the standard installer, with all the regular features that one would expect from the main distribution, except the rpm selection screen has been disabled. You should be able to use these images from CD media, DVD media, USB storage devices. We do not recommend these images be used with kickstart files written for the main CentOS distro images. An install will setup yum to work with the regular default CentOS 7 repositories. Once the installed machine instace boots it should work just like a regular CentOS machine, with only the bare minimal rpms installed. Centos 6 full backup software?

Hi All ;) I need a good tool to backup whole system on block level rather than file level and easy to use. I currently need to backup to an USB disc (50+ GB of data) a system and then reinstall it. a kickstart question

Not having much luck googling.... I'm working on our ks.cgi, and in the case that we're using gpt, I know that kickstart can't, natively, use gpt yet. However, it is my impression that clearpart --initlabel --none --drives=$DISK would wipe the GPT label. (Plus, googling, I find that initlabel is deprecated). Am I wrong about initlabel? And is there any point in using clearpart, if we've got got to use parted to put a gpt label on the drive, and partition it? Should I just make that line go away? mark

CentOS 7 and xfce

I finally have got around to installing centos 7 and usually do a pretty minimal installation, I chose the virtualization host, since that will be the primary purpose. However I have hit a snag, I usually install xfce from epel and go along my way but there appears to be a bug in the xfce package: Error: Package: xfdesktop-4.10.2-2.el7.x86_64 (epel) Requires: desktop-backgrounds-basic You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest It has been reported and I assume it will be corrected at some point, but was wondering if anyone has xfce running on centos 7 or any other alternatives to kde/gnome3. el7: Thunderbird?

Hi Folks, Just wondering what Thunderbird users are doing on el7 now it's been removed from the distro? I note EPEL has a thunderbird package but it seems very out of date at version 24.5.0. Version 24.6.0 was released 10 June, nearly 6 weeks ago, and fixed 3 critical security issues. Is this normal for EPEL to be so far behind on security updates? The other alternative seems to be running the tarball from Mozilla, but that is only available in 32-bit and I don't really want to install a whole bunch of 32-bit libs just to run one program. So what is everyone else using?

centos 7 yum dependency issue

I had some packages that I needed to install and they have some issues, I installed via rpm and did some linking and got them working. However Yum still thinks that they are broken: ** Found 1 pre-existing rpmdb problem(s), 'yum check' output follows: has missing requires of python(abi) = ('0', '2.6', None) Yum appears to install whatever I need but spits that out at the bottom, is there any way I can have it ignore this issue? I searched via google but most deal with resolving the issue, and I have but yum is unaware. Thanks.

CentOS to reside near a NTFS system

Hello there, the *old* PC (Turion 64 MT-32 800MHz, 1Gb RAM) of my gf is running Windows XP, and I plan on installing a CentOS beside of it, allowing her to select the OS at boot-time. Other system/OS installing options are not retained, please avoid ;-). My first attempt was to install the CentOS7 GNOME-Live on a USB flashdisk and to boot it on the machine. It was either freezing at grub stage (!?) or later at GDM login stage. I gave up. Then I installed the CentOS6 LiveCD on the USB flashdisk, and booted in on the machine. Works fine so far, but it cannot mount the Windows NTFS partition (unknown partition type - no NTFS driver in the Live system?) so I cannot either access the user data in the NTFS partition, nor shrink the NTFS partition in order to install the CentOS6 system on disk. So I'm wondering, if ever I boot from a pmagic live system and succeed in shrinking down the NTFS and make room for the CentOS6 install: - will the CentOS6 live system be able to install at all and allow dual boot so that it's conservative WRT the existing Windows system? - once installed, will the CentOS6 system be able to mount read-WRITE the NTFS partition (even if I have to install an alternative repository)? Read-only would be useless to us. - why not, is there a way I could get success with the CentOS7? If not, the CentOS6 is fine with me. Those are the pre-requisites for me to run CentOS6 on this - ah-hum - slow system and be happy with it. Any though? Regards, -- wwp

installer and os-prober not finding Windows XP installation

I installed CentOS 7 on a Shuttle X27D box (dual-core Atom 330), and so far it seems to work fine, but it didn't set up a Grub2 entry for the existing Windows XP installation in the first partition (MBR). Running os-prober generates no output. fdisk shows that the NTFS partition is still present as /dev/sda1, and still has the bootable flag set. I added a menuentry for Windows to the end of /etc/grub.d/40_custom: menuentry "Windows" { set root=(hd0,1) chainloader +1 } and ran: grub2-mkconfig >/boot/grub2/grub.cfg and that lets me boot Windows, but I thought this was supposed to be taken care of automatically. Is there any known problem that prevents the installer or Grub2 from finding Windows XP? I don't normally set up dual-boot on production machines, but I use it a lot for testing. Thanks, Eric

Some thoughts on systemd

I haven't had any problems with systemd. However, I didn't have any problems with sysVinit over many years. But the only practical advantage of systemd that I've seen touted is that it speeds up boot-time. Even if this were true it does not seem to me worth worrying about, as - in my case at least - the frequency of re-booting is so low that even if it took twice as long it would still be a negligible fraction of my time. In fact I've been running CentOS-6.5 and CentOS-7 off and on for the last few days, and I have found no difference in boot-time. It takes my HP MicroServer 80 seconds to reboot and login, and at least 65 seconds of this is taken up with messages from HP's BIOS, checking USB devices or ports, checking PXE devices (I know I could probably turn this off), and starting up KDE. So I find this particular argument for systemd null and void. As far as I can see, the other reason for favouring systemd is more philosophical, and is based on the idea that the many different start-up routines share a considerable amount of common code, and that it is good to take out this code and put it in a separate process. That seems to me a good Unix-like argument. In principle this should simplify the algorithms involved. Hi list, I downloaded the netinstall iso, burned it to disk, and tried to install on my old Dell PowerEdge 2900 (Intel Xeon / 8Gb ram). Machine is connected to a KVM. The Centos 6 netinstall iso worked flawlessly on this exact configuration two days ago. The first thing anaconda does after verifying the media is complain that "pane is dead" in the lower left corner. At this point, there does not seem to be much I can do (system ignores keypresses). dovecot + pigeonhole on CentOS-7

I've everything running fine under CentOS-7, as far as I can tell, except that spam is not being diverted to my spam folder ~/Maildir/.Spam . I'm running postfix + spamass-milter + spamass-milter-postfix + dovecot (+ spamassassin), and spam is being duly marked before ending in my inbox . As far as I can see, the current advice is to leave filtering to dovecot, using the dovecot-pigeonhole rpm. I'm wondering if anyone else is doing this? If so, what settings exactly did you use? I haven't been able to find any clear documentation, or rather I have seen widely differing instructions. My brief attempt failed, so if anyone can help I should be very grateful. I tried several settings of flush_*, log_fifo_size and follow_freq but with no luck :D Is it a problem withe the version that I use (quite old :D ) or is there a mistake in my configuration maybe? Ok, I did read www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/systemd.unit.html and am still confused. What is it? If it helps, let' suse a real application: I create in /etc/systemd/system/ the home-ducker.{,auto}mount files. Where does this unit file go with respect to them? Is it one of them?

centos 7: trouble setting the ondemand governor

Hi, The default "stop" action for the cpupower service seems to be to set the ondemand governor, but this fails. I can reproduce the issue directly by running cpupower: $ sudo cpupower frequency-set -g ondemand Setting cpu: 0 Error setting new values. Common errors: - Do you have proper administration rights? (super-user?) - Is the governor you requested available and modprobed? - Trying to set an invalid policy? - Trying to set a specific frequency, but userspace governor is not available, for example because of hardware which cannot be set to a specific frequency or because the userspace governor isn't loaded? The ondemand and powersave governors work ok (powersave is the default when the host boots). Some diagnosis: $ grep ONDEMAND /boot/config-3.10.0-123.el7.x86_64 CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_DEFAULT_GOV_ONDEMAND=y CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_GOV_ONDEMAND=y $ cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_available_governors performance powersave So apparently the kernel is configured to support ondemand, but it is not available. I know that the hardware and BIOS are capable of it--in fact, I just rebuilt the host on centos 6.5 to verify, and ondemand works fine. Also, I don't know a reason why powersave would work but ondemand would not, hardware-wise. CPU: Intel E5-2670 System: SGI C1110-RP6 I'd appreciate any tips. I don't know if I've found a bug or if I'm doing something wrong. Thanks, Corey

Installing CentOS-7 but keeping CentOS-6.5

I'm having trouble installing CentOS-7 on my HP MicroServer. I've tried with KDE LiveCD and Netinstall (both on USB sticks), and now I'm going to try with the DVD ISO. But I want to be quite sure I can return to CentOS-6.5 if things go wrong, so I'm wondering what precisely I need to copy (eg the MBR and a bit more) so that I could get back to things as they were. Is this documented anywhere? Actually, both failed installations did give a boot menu including the old 6.5 system, but I'm afraid sometime this might not work, and I will be cut off from the world. Incidentally, the "Repair" option on the netinstall system was not as useful as I expected, or perhaps I don't know how to use it properly. It entered the new CentOS-7 system OK on chroot-ing, even mounting other partitions listed in /etc/fstab . And I was able to bring up the interfaces with "service network restart". But although I ran grub2-install , this did not help matters. Is there anything else one can do after chrooting into a system? Eg, can one boot the system in any way? Is anyone running amavisd and clamd under CentOS-7? Amavisd-new seems difficult to install, and clamd is difficult to find. (I've only added the epel repository, as I had a conflict when I added rpmforge as well.) It is called the advance of the ages. All technology must, if it is to become truly useful, disappear from conscious consideration when operated. Consider how little user maintenance is even possible with a modern automobile, how pervasive the idea of instant world-wide voice and data communication is and the absurd triviality of the operating the technology necessary to accomplish this is (from the end user's perspective). How many here remember party-line telephone service? Operator assisted Station-to-Station and Person-to-Person long distance calls? Telegrams? Telex? Centrex? Analysis pads? Residual artifacts of all these things are still to be found but their function has been subsumed and submerged by technology and the skills necessary to operate them are obsolete. All successful automation is going down the same path. The *nixes have not won the OS wars but they are, I believe, a significant part of the medium term future of automation. However, to become truly useful to the widest possible audience the arcane user interface commonly encountered in the myriad of disjointed *nix system utilities has to be radically simplified to the point of triviality. A shell is, at its root, a programming language. A peculiar form of virtual machine if you will. The vast majority of computer users are not programmers and will never become so. What this means is that the shell, of whatever ilk, must be submerged to the view of most users if *nix is to thrive. For the cognoscenti this will ever be a point of discomfort for it puts into question the value of their hard won skills. Nonetheless, things like systemd, gnome3, and no-doubt dumber and more awful things to come are, in my opinion, inevitable. Computing is just too valuable a resource to be left solely in the hands of a self-selected elite whose entrance requirement is mastery of a dozen subtly different ways of telling computer systems to do essentially the same thing. There is a reason that things like Webmin already exist and it is not because of MS-Windows or LUsers. It is because the native administrative interface to the standard *nix system is a nightmare of complexity, inconsistency and sheer bloody-mindedness. At least, that is how I see it. I am not comfortable with change but I have long ago given up trying to resist it. If systemd presents a common DSL for service management dependencies __AND__ it works then bring it on. CentOS7: vncserver - desktop resolution

Hi, I just installed CentOS7 and managed to start the vncserver service, but once I connect to the machine, the desktop resolution isn't the one which I set in the vncserver@:3.service file located in /lib/systemd/system/ directory. Troubleshooting suspend/resume problem in Centos 7

I'm trying out CentOS 7 using a HP AMD laptop http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=uk&lc=en&docname=c03877039 The problem is the laptop doesn't suspend properly in runlevel 5 / graphical.target and following guides, I found that it suspends (power LED blinking) but does not resume in runlevel 3 / multi-user.target. When it locks up, the machine is unresponsive to ping/ssh so it's not just a blank screen. Unfortunately, the only applicable guide I found on troubleshooting this is for Ubuntu, which requires the kernel to support pm_trace which isn't found in /sys/power. Since there is a big red warning on centos.org about building/compiling my own kernel to add functions, I'm wondering if there are any alternative method to troubleshoot the issue on CentOS. I suspect it may be related to the Radeon GPU as I notice that every now and then after fresh boot, the GUI desktop will freeze for a while and dmesg will contain errors: [drm:cik_ib_test] *ERROR* radeon: fence wait failed (-35) [drm:radeon_ib_ring_tests] *ERROR* radeon: failed testing IB on ring 2 (-35) As a side note, this laptop had no problems with suspend/resume when it was running Ubuntu 14.04

Hi there, I am running various browsers on my CentOS 6.5. Firefox is running smoothly, especially with blocking flash animations. I recently installed Opera and I use Seamonkey for long, both suffers from being very slow. Does CentOS have any role in this? When I re-boot I get the message "A problem in the kernel package has been detected". I am asked if I want to report this, to which I respond in the affirmative; but I have no idea where this report goes, or if it can be read in some way. C6.5 - combine two DVD isos into one tree?

I have the two DVD isos for CentOS 6.5 mounted as loopback, on the mount points /centos6 and /centos6a, and am trying to use them for PXE/KS installation. The problem I have is that the packages in /centos6a/Packages are not found by the installer. The host is a CentOS 5 system. Is there a way for me to overlay the second DVD on the first without having to copy all the packages from both isos into a new directory? Or is there a standard path I can use to mount the second DVD that the installer will use for packages that are not found on the first? Or any other ideas? Disable auto window maximize

Job #1 for me with CentOS 7 is to disable the automatic window maximization. Some googling found this command: $ gsettings set org.gnome.mutter auto-maximize false No such schema 'org.gnome.mutter' and this: $ gsettings set orh.gnome.shell.overrides edge-tiling false but that had no visible effect. I couldn't find anything under Applications->documentation and I didn't see anything in the on-line GNOME help manual. I looked under Applications->System Tools and Applications->Utilities. I found the Tweak Tool but didn't see anything in there either. Can someone point me to some documentation on how to do this? Thanks, Steve

We're looking to run freeipa on CentOS-6.5. It seems the version available for 6.5 is 3.0, whereas the latest 3.x is 3.3.5 (available in F19 & 20). And now I see 4.0 was just released and will be in F21 (with support for native OTP-based 2FA!). Has anyone attempted rebuilds against the F19/20 3.3.5 RPMS for CentOS? Given the dependency chain, is it worth going down this rabbit hole? Otherwise, is everyone who is running CentOS and FreeIPA pretty much using 3.0? Since it's a new build, I was hoping we could start with the latest stable, but not ready yet to run RHEL7/CentOS7 or Fedora in our environment. johnny

Using systemd only was my requirement. i.e. using /etc/systemd/system/ instead of /etc/sysconfig/network{,-scripts}. The replies I got were "oh, you can still use /etc/sysconfig/network{,-scripts} with systemd *for now*, so you can kludge it together." What's the point then? systemd is supposed to handle something as simple as two little interfaces; I am not even talking about vlans and virtual interfaces. I know how to do it using /etc/sysconfig/network{,-scripts}, but that is besides the point. If systemd is the Way of the Future, I should be able to do this simple configuration in it in CentOS 7. After all, with CentOS 7, systemd is the de facto way to do things, right? I do sound annoyed because I am: I keep hearing about how systemd is "going to liberate us from the Old White Man way of doing things," and I am willing to be the devil's advocate here for I plan on using Linux in the foreseeable future. But, if it cannot deliver me two little interfaces up and running -- not asking for cookies and a massage but would not turn them down if I get my interfaces up and happy -- I do have an issue. So, for those who know the Way of The systemd, please show me here or in my thread (so we keep this one on-topic) how to do that in a completely systemd-networkd way (and why what I wrote is boink). centos plus kernel - moving it in and back out again

I have been reading the bug reports about the problem with initializing Logitech wireless devices using the current stock Centos 7 kernel. It's my understanding that this issue will be fixed in the Centos Plus kernel. However, I suspect that the issue will also be fixed at some point when Red Hat get around to fixing their kernel as well. My main computer has a Logitech wireless mouse that's likely affected by the bug, though I haven't tried it yet to verify that. One of these days I intend to get around to installing Centos 7 on this computer, and this will then become an issue. If I install Centos 7 and then the Centos Plus kernel to get the Logitech bug fix, what happens when the stock Centos 7 kernel also gets the bug fix applied? Will a standard "yum update" automatically find and download the new stock Centos 7 kernel and set everything up to it instead of the Centos Plus kernel? CentOS 7 - Add a menu item.

I am kinda stuck. I want to add a menu item and like all previous versions of Centos I used Alacarte without issue. In C7, it will not allow you to put anything but a one name command. IE, firefox. You can not have something like java -jar /opt/PROG/NAME.jar. It grays out the OK button as soon as you put a space after java. Note if you edit a menu item that that has a space, it is also grayed out. Any other way to add one> Thanks - Doug

Any chance of a refresh of the cloud image (http://buildlogs.centos.org/centos/7/cloud/) and including cloud-init and the repos ? With this, we can start asking our end users to give CentOS 7 a spin on the cloud.. Thanks Tim

Whence Pan??

Yum fails to install Pan, and neither epel nor rebelbase.com seems to have an rpm for it. Why not? And can I get an rpm somewhere else?
