Optimal VPN

I am looking for the optimal VPN. Well it doens't have to be that elaborate. Just the best VPN. We currently have some customers using PPTP, some using openvpn, some using Cisco Any Connect and there are a few others. So my question is, if you have control of both ends (client and server) what is the best VPN to use? There are not too many requirements, but a big one is The VPN must return the same IP address to the same user each time That is there must be a specific IP address assigned to a user/password combination. pptp does not really do this but I wrote sort of a backend (or maybe frontend? ;-) ) to change the IP address assigned based on a login and password. It is extra stuff I would prefer not to do though.

A preliminary development version of ext4 was included in version 2.6.19[4] of the Linux kernel. On 11 October 2008, the patches that mark ext4 as stable code were merged in the Linux 2.6.28 source code repositories,[5] denoting the end of the development phase and recommending ext4 adoption. kernel panic

Hi, I have CentOS 5.0 installed my system.It shows "kernel panic - not syncing : fatal exception" error during boot process.Can any one please suggest to resolve this kernel panic? I am very eager to solve this without upgrade the version for home work. Thanks -- Regards, M.Satheesh.

how to run a command on a specific vnc display

Hello, I'm using selenium rc for automated testing on a centos box. working on the box itself has no problem as long as i start the server through terminal. though if i wanted to run tests remotely i have a problem with firefox not knowing on which display to run. i have a vnc client running on port 1 (5801/5901) I've tried the following: export DISPLAY=1 ; java -jar selenium-server.jar > /opt/selenium/Logs/logs.txt # through ssh session though that didn't work the only way to initiate it properly is to connect through vnc, open a terminal and type : java -jar $PWD/selenium-server.jar though i don't know how to automate this. so i thought of setting this in xstartup # vnc's startup for display 1 as such: 1 #!/bin/sh 2 3 # Uncomment the following two lines for normal desktop: 4 unset SESSION_MANAGER 5 exec /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc 6 while true ;do sh /opt/scripts/rc; done & 7 [ -x /etc/vnc/xstartup ] && exec /etc/vnc/xstartup 8 [ -r $HOME/.Xresources ] && xrdb $HOME/.Xresources 9 xsetroot -solid grey 10 vncconfig -iconic & 11 xterm -geometry 80x24+10+10 -ls -title "$VNCDESKTOP Desktop" & 12 twm & ]# more /opt/scripts/rc java -jar /opt/selenium/selenium-server.jar > /opt/selenium/Logs/logs.txt Though that isn't working either, and still the firefox profile doesnt know where to start. this is the error : PHPUnit_Framework_Exception: Response from Selenium RC server for getNewBrowserSession(*firefox, http://www.test.com) Failed to start new browser session: Error while launching browser. any help to automate the startup on display 1 would be greatly appreciated

dhcp + static dns

Hi all, Not having issues setting this in Ubuntu or Windows but I cannot seem to add a static DNS or search path without it getting over written when networks restarts. The file dhclient.conf seems ignored. I would like to simply have a fixed DNS and search path added to what ever was found by the dhcp client. So I don't think peersdns=no is an option. Any advice is greatly appreciated. - aurf

apache ssl config

I hadn't noticed until just now that the default apache config file doesn't show a virtual host for https anymore. Does that have any significance, and do the same old config parameters apply to the new httpd when I want to set up a secure web site? Steve Campbell

copy old CF image to new CF device

I am using an 8G CF card. (I was using dd to duplicate the card with different size cards I was advised not to). So I wrote the script below which basically: 1) runs fdisk to setup the device 2) makes the ext3 file system and the swap 3) mounts my old image "/" filesystem and the new partition 4) tar and untar the directories 5) run grub on it 6) set label for "/" After I run all the above I get: EXT3-fs error ext3_find_entry reading directory #129586 offset 0 then a couple lines later it remounts the root file system read only. What have I missed in successfully make the CF card based on the old image?
