spamassassin needs updating?

The spamassassin on my server is 3.2.5 and is stock CentOS 5.x. I do apply updates regularly. Most of my legitimate contacts are either whitelisted or sorted into folders before spamassassin sees them, but I have noticed an increasing amount of legitimate mail marked as spam. One issue seems to be the FH_DATE_PAST_20XX rule. I was able to fix that via running sa-update as root per http://wiki.apache.org/spamassassin/Rules/FH_DATE_PAST_20XX Should the rule be fixed in the actual RPM though since it is past 2010? Secondly a lot of mail is marked due to DNS_FROM_OPENWHOIS In SpamAssassin 3.3 and later, that rule is removed because: Status of bl.open-whois.org: DEAD http://wiki.apache.org/spamassassin/Rules/DNS_FROM_OPENWHOIS Shouldn't that rule then be removed from the CentOS RPM? I think I figured out how to remove it manually (give score of 0.0 on trigger) but if it doesn't work, it should be patched out of the CentOS RPM, no? Will CentOS patch it w/o rhel patching? IE where should I search for bug reports and file a bugzilla?

Amavisd-new UBE problem on Postfix server

This is a web hosting mailserver, so there are multiple domains being passed through this email system. I decided this new system would be Postfix and followed the Centos Wiki to aid in the installation and setup. It seems that Amavisd is throwing this error from time to time. ----- Subject: Considered UNSOLICITED BULK EMAIL, apparently from you From: "Content-filter at <mailserverdomainname.com> ----- and now I'll skip to the bottom of the error message ------ First upstream SMTP client IP address: [97.13.153.201] According to a 'Received:' trace, the message apparently originated at: [97.13.153.201], localhost 201.sub-97-13-153.myvzw.com [97.13.153.201] ------- which shows this email was sent through a smart phone on the Verizon network. The email settings on the phone are correct. The domain name of the sender is properly configured and email is working on their computer. I have searched for this and found many questions about why and only one ugly solution. It seems that if you add the domain name to @local_domains_maps = in amavis conf, the problem goes away, at least in some situations. Obviously not something one wants to have to do with each additional domain added to a server. Amavis is set to the default @local_domains_maps = ( [".$mydomain"] ); # list of all local domains on my system. $mydomain is set to the mailservername. Does anyone have a good solution to this problem? Thanks, John Hinton

slapd auxpropfunc error no mechanism available

Hi,guys: I am trying to setup OpenLDAP on CentOS 5.3 i386 for a client of mine. everytime I try running 'service ldap start', I get the following in syslog: root@xx ~: tailf /var/log/messages .....slaptest: sql_select option missing ....slaptest: auxpropfunc error no mechanism available ....slapd[4392]: sql_select option missing ....slapd[4392]: auxpropfunc error no mechanism available ....ldap: slapd startup failed I have checked the permissions on /etc/ldap.conf and /etc/openldap.conf and the two are chmod'd ldap:ldap Can anyone give me pointers? Thanks in advance ....

centos 5.5 on optiplex 745

Hi, we have some old dell optiplex 745 machines which have the Intel 965q chipset. The problem is, that they freeze as soon as the system tries to start the X system. It happens even before any log is written. This happens almost every time (for some reason it sometimes work, but 99% it fails). When i change the graphic driver in xorg.conf from intel to vesa it mostly works, but still i sometimes get a flickering screen, but this can mostly be resolved using ctrl+alt+backspace (sometimes you have to try this twice). We use the 1024x768 and 24 bit colors, so this shouldn't be the problem. Does anyone know a fix for this problem? Janez

posixGroup LDIF problem

Hi,all: I'm working on populating an OpenLDAP server (Dapper) for pam authentication. I'm having trouble import LDIFs for my groups. The following is and example: (this imports on CentOS 5.3 i386, openldap version is 2.3.43-3.el5 ) # org.X.admins dn: cn=admins,dc=X,dc=org changetype: add objectClass: groupOfNames objectClass: top objectClass: posixGroup cn: admins gidNumber: 1001 member: cn=admin,dc=X,dc=org I get the following error: adding new entry "cn=admins,dc=X,dc=org" ldap_add: Object class violation (65) additional info: invalid structural object class chain (groupOfNames/posixGroup) Now, if I strip it down a little, this will import: dn: cn=admins,dc=X,dc=org changetype: add objectClass: posixGroup cn: admins gidNumber: 1001 I don't see though how this is supposed to tie to a user without the member entries. So what is the wrong with it ?Could someone give me some suggestions? Thanks ~

CentOS 5.3 Xen installation trouble installing FUSE

Hi, I've got CentOS 5.3 installed as a Xen client installed. I've recently been trying to install TrueCrypt on the VM, but am having miserable troubles with the Fuse kernel module. To date, I've installed the following packages: yum install truecrypt yum install fuse However, to launch the fuse module, I need the dkms_autoinstaller running. However, when I try to start the dkms_autoinstaller service I get the following error messages: Jun 28 23:31:57 charliebrown dkms_autoinstaller: fuse (2.7.4-1.nodist.rf): Installing module on kernel 2.6.18-128.2.1.el5xen. Jun 28 23:31:57 charliebrown dkms_autoinstaller: Kernel headers for 2.6.18-128.2.1.el5xen are not installed. Cannot install this module. Jun 28 23:31:57 charliebrown dkms_autoinstaller: Try installing linux-headers-2.6.18-128.2.1.el5xen or equivalent. Indeed, the kernel modules available in yum are for 2.6.18-194.3.1.el5. I fished around, and found a kernel-headers package for 2.6.18-128.2.1.el5 (http://137.138.246.63/cern/slc5X/x86_64/yum/updates/repoview/kernel-headers…) I downloaded the RPM, and downgraded my kernel-headers package. So I now have the kernel-headers package for 2.6.18-128.2.1.el5 installed. However, when I try to start the dkms_autoinstaller, I still get the same error message indicating that the Kernel headers for 2.6.18-128.2.1.el5xen are not installed. Where can I find this package? They aren't on the Citrix repos. From the few threads I've read, ppl are suggested to download a DDK VM to build new modules, etc, but that still won't help me, as I need the headers on the actual machine to run the dkms_autoinstaller service. I'm currently stuck / lost. Any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Eric

Hi; I'm trying to install django and got this error: django.core.exceptions.ImproperlyConfigured: MySQLdb-1.2.1p2 or newer is required; you have 1.2.1 So then I tried yum upgrade mysql and got this: No Packages marked for Update Please advise. TIA, Susan

Can't install Centos with DVD on KVM.

Subject line explains most of it.... I'm trying to install Centos from a dvd iso, that has been verified on KVM (Fedora 13) box. Virtual machine boots, and will launch anaconda and will test the media, but on the next step after that it says it can't find CD media.
