ulimit

I need to to change the ulimit to 16384(ulimit -n 16384) on boot on Centos 5.4 64 bit. How do I do that? Been searching and have yet to find a good answer. Tried to do it in rc.local but it appears to happen to late there. Matt

is there any possibility to do this on cent os for example company one will be in the block of 10.0.0.0.1-10.0.0.255 and routed to the one of my external ip company two will be in the block of 11.0.0.0.1-11.0.0.255 and routed to the one of my external ip i just need an advice is this better on windows vpn or llinux vpn server do you advice me any server software like open vpn or sth. else thank you very much i am glad for all your help i will rent a new server after complete a working system on virtual machine thanks ..

file sharing?

Hi all, I've inherited from a previous It personnel a centos server which works as a fileserver and at the same time has one Vmware (windows xp) working on it. due to file server data load, the windows xp services get unreachable until the data transfer from the fileserver itself slows down.. the NIC max out its transfer speed.. the same server has two * 1 GB nics one is currently being used.. my question is this: is there a way to make the afp/smb services work only one ONE nic.. in other words users accessing the shared files from a specific NIC.. that way I can divide the load. file transfers goes from one NIC and windows services gets reached from the other..(different IPs) doo all this make any sense? is there any other way of solving this (other than moving the VM elsewhere) ? thanks in advance for yoru help __________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature database 5015 (20100410) __________ The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. http://www.eset.com

Cobbler import files with rsync error

Hi all, I'm trying to import in image into Cobbler (working with this: https://fedorahosted.org/cobbler/wiki/UsingCobblerImport) but keep on getting the following error: total size is 322467472 speedup is 1.00 rsync error: some files/attrs were not transferred (see previous errors) (code 23) at main.c(1042) [sender=3.0.7] Command failed I mounted an ISO image and started the import as follows: [root@intranet ~]# mount -o loop /home/data/ISO/openfiler-2.3-x86.iso /mnt/dvd/ [root@intranet ~]# df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/mapper/nas-root 9.7G 5.5G 3.8G 60% / /dev/mapper/nas-home 434G 312G 100G 76% /home /dev/md0 99M 64M 31M 68% /boot tmpfs 869M 0 869M 0% /dev/shm none 869M 104K 869M 1% /var/lib/xenstored /dev/sdb1 75G 66G 8.7G 89% /mnt/usb-moviez /home/data/ISO/openfiler-2.3-x86.iso 315M 315M 0 100% /mnt/dvd [root@intranet ~]# cobbler import --path=/mnt/dvd --name="Openfiler 2.3" The problem is, as soon as I get this error, I can't re-import the exact same image and need to specify a new name as well. sed a particular line in file

I need to change a value in a file, but this line occurs more than once in this file therefore as i know the line number this value appears on how can i change that? I thought i could use sed to change a particular line number but i dont see that in the man page, i am trying to change a value from line number 6 thanks

Build Issue with multi module project

Hi, I have a multi module web project. Four modules of the project are packaged as jar and added as dependency to the fifth module, which is packaged as war. When it is time to deploy the application i just run package on the war project and my war is created with all the dependencies. Now there is a problem. One of the my module have heavy changes. Now when i created war for my projects these changes was not reflected in the output war file(the jar in lib folder of war has still the old code). Can you please point the things i am missing from the release process? Why the old code is being packaged with the war? Regards, Vijay Shanker Dubey

Kernel Panic Help

I have a CentOS 5.4 64 bit server running on a supermicro motherboard. It kernel paniced last night. http://www.freeimagehosting.net/image.php?c51cb1be89.jpg Any ideas? Its running the latest version of Squid available with yum. Memory issue? Would adding: kernel.panic = 10 to: /etc/sysctl.conf Have caused it to reboot after 10 seconds instead of just sitting there?
