yum update installed xen and pae kernels

Why??? I was/am running kernel 2.6.18-128.1.6.el5 I did a yum update and watched 2.6.18-128.1.6.el5xen and 2.6.18-128.1.6.el5PAE being installed, with PAE listed first in my /boo/grub/menu.lst I also see: Installing: kmod-fuse i686 2.7.4-1.el5.rf rpmforge 26 k replacing dkms-fuse.noarch 2.7.4-1.nodist.rf kmod-fuse-PAE i686 2.7.4-1.el5.rf rpmforge 26 k replacing dkms-fuse.noarch 2.7.4-1.nodist.rf kmod-fuse-xen i686 2.7.4-1.el5.rf rpmforge 26 k replacing dkms-fuse.noarch 2.7.4-1.nodist.rf This notebook has the atheros wifi mini-pci card. What do I do at this point? I have not rebooted...

Hmmm "This will wipe your drive." normally means what it says it wipes your drive to be honest if it was me then I would skip centos and go for the uhuntu, it's designed for the netbook and from what I hear i runs like the clappers on the netbook. GFS and Small Files

Hi all, We are running CentOS 5.2 64bit as our file server. Currently, we used GFS (with CLVM underneath it) as our filesystem (for our multiple 2TB SAN volume exports) since we plan to add more file servers (serving the same contents) later on. The issue we are facing at the moment is we found out that command such as 'ls' gives a very slow response.(e.g 3-4minutes for the outputs of ls to be printed out, or in certain cases, 20minutes or so) This is completely true especially in directories containing "large number" of small files (e.g 90000+ of 1-4kb files). The thing is, most of system users are generating these small files frequently as part of their workflow. We tried emulating the same scenario (90000+ of small files) on a ext3 partition and it gives almost the same result. I believe most of the CLVM/GFS settings done are using the defaults parameters. Additionally, we would prefer to stick to GFS (or at least ext3) as it is part of CentOS / RHEL distribution rather than changing into other small-files 'friendly' filesystems (such as XFS, ReiserFS). I'm exploring whether is there anyway we can tune the GFS parameters to make the system more responsive? I have read that we can apply 'dir_index' option to ext3 partition to speedup things, but I'm not so sure about GFS. find tux comic picture help

does anyone knows/have that comic picture of "tux" the Linux penguin that: - has four pictures in it - it defines 4 "levels" of the knowledge of tux, who is "symbolizing a learning person" - the first one: tux is just a Linux "fanboy"; second: tux is working, and say's: "...stupid rpm"; three: I can't remember that:D sorry; four: tux has a beard, and the picture says don't mess with it. thank you, and sorry for the question, but I just can't find it on google :D :S

At install I had Gnome and Not KDE. doing rpm -qa | grep qt results in qt-3.3.6-23.el5 qt4-4.2.1-1 How can I find out what package loaded the qt4 and qt? Thanks, Jerry

Postfix Questions

Hi All, I am working on setting up Postfix and I have a few questions: 1. mynetworks = Do I put my public static IP here? So I am hosting at another provider on my own dedicated hardware. Do I put that machines IP or the IP of my apartment where I want to access from? Second, do I have to know the Ip information for my BlackBerry to work as well? 2. relaying: Obviously I dont want to be an open relay, but I do what to send mail from my apartment and from my Blackberry. Ideas? -Jason
