sylpheed email client oddity

With the Sylpheed email client: Compose a message Click the button to attach a file to that message Attach a file Save the message to draft Compose another message Click the button to attach a file to that message With Sylpheed 2.5.0 on Fedora 10 I see the directory containing the file that I attached when composing the first message, which is what I expect to see. With sylpheed-2.0.4-0.el5.rf on Centos 5, I see the Sylpheed draft folder. To attach another file from the original directory I have to navigate back there. I don't remember it doing that before. Have I screwed up a setting somewhere? OT: PCI Slot Adapter for 2.5" HDD?

Greetings CentOS list! I do apologize in advance for the OT nature of this post. Since many of you have great experience with different hardware platforms, specialized systems, etc I'm hoping someone can help me out. I have a 1U server for a personal project with only two hard drive bays in front. However, I have two PCI-E slots in the back that are unpopulated and two free SATA ports on the motherboard. I'd really like to find PCI slot bracket for mounting a 2.5" laptop HDD or something similar. Something like this would work if it was PCI-E and was readily available: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/a-hard-disk-a-pci-slot,1061-3.html I also found a bracket system but its not exactly what I need... http://www.sunbeamtech.com/PRODUCTS/WHEREVER%20PCI%20RACK.HTML Sooo, whether it's an active card that plugs into the PCI-E slot, or just a dumb bracket that holds a HDD drive, either would work. LifeKeeper vs RH/CentOS Cluster

Hello All: I've configured a few instances of RedHat/CentOS clustering. For basic services such as web, dns, and LDAP it seems to work well. My basic configuration just uses the core services and a DRBD volume for the shared storage. We have some existing LifeKeeper clustered systems. I don't know much about them except that they use a similar hearbeat/shared storage solution. Has anyone here used both and can mention some pros/cons of each? In particular, is there anything that LifeKeeper provides that cannot be replicated via the RedHat/CentOS solution? Thanks all for any input.

lftp SSL_connect error

I am unable to find any documentation about this error message, perhaps one of you has experienced this as well. We have an FTP server that is configured to accept FTP transactions over SSL. The server is working fine, as I am able to log in with lftp from my test linux machine in the office. None of our data center machines are able to connect so perhaps this is a firewall or NAT issue? Anyway here is the very un-descriptive error message: **** SSL_connect: error:00000000:lib(0):func(0):reason(0) ---- Closing control socket `ls' at 0 [Delaying before reconnect: 18] It just sits there trying to reconnect over and over again. Any ideas?

Installing on partitionable RAID arrays

Hello Since linux 2.6, the md layer has a feature called partitionable arrays. So instead of having two disks, creating an identical partition table on both and then putting those partitions in RAID 1, you take those two disks and put them in one partitionable RAID 1 array (in mdadm terms, "mdp") and create a partition table on the new RAID device. The advantages are quite clear compared to the old non-partitionable arrays. My question is, is this supported by CentOS? The GTK installer doesn't provide a way to create such an mdp device and the integrated partitioning tool does not see for example md_d0 when I create it manually from the console. Another way to get CentOS on such a configuration would be to do everything manually, thus installing the base system by creating the necessary disk allocations and then rpm -i all the required packages to get it to boot. (I've done this before, it's not a big deal, you just need to follow a certain order - I remember documenting it somewhere but forgot). But since this method is probably not officially documented anywhere or even supported I'll most likely won't get any support if this setup were to fail somehow (like when upgrading between minor versions). I've tried STFW'ing, but searching for centos and partitionable arrays is too ambiguous. Thanks, Best regards, Glenn Matthys

APCUPSD port 3551 permission problem

I need a little help on this problem, please? I include my /etc/apcupsd/apcupsd.conf file is attached. port 3551 udp/tcp has been added to the (running) firewall. My APC is recognized as: APC Back-UPS 450 FW:844.Kld.D USB FW:Kld This from the hardware browser. PS says: root 2419 0.0 0.0 4196 584 ? Ss Mar23 0:09 /sbin/apcupsd -f /etc/apcupsd/apcupsd.conf Is group 2419 the problem? What should I name it? apcupsd? The status field of the Service Configuration GUI says: apcupsd (pid 2419) is running... Error contacting host localhost port 3551: Connection refused TIA -- Bob Taylor

xen serial port access for domu?

Is serial port "passthrough" possible for the version of xen that ships with centos 5.2? I've disabled the xen hypervisor serial console, and can see the serial port in dom0. I've masked out the 8250, 8250_pnp and serial_core modules on dom0 and rebooted. xm create domain fails with the error that exactly 4 arguments are required and only 3 were given. Steps I followed: 1) I have xencons=off as a kernel arg for dom0, and when dom0 boots, it finds the serial port. 2) I have blacklisted 8250, 8250_pnp and serial_core, rebooted, no serial port under dom0 3) added the following to my domu config (domu is 32bit centos 5.2, pvm) addirq = [ 4 ] ioports = [ "3f8-3ff" ] 4) now to start the vm and see what happens: # xm create mythserver Using config file "./mythserver". command line programs for ldap

Hi all. I am looking for some command line programs (pre made) that will connect to an ldap server and list out the users in question provided by the search argument given. I found some mention of it from oracle but I did not see where they can be downloaded. Is something like this available and I just havent found them? Thanks, Jerry

Minimal Install?

Hello list, I'm testing CentOS 5.2 as a possible Xen Server (i.e.: dom0) but the default no-items-selected still installs cups, portmap, and many other thing I don't want in a dom0 installation. I've already removed the packages I don't want, and replaced sendmail with postfix (I need a mailserver because of mdadm/smartd) but there're some executables I don't know what they do (gam_server for example) Two questions: 1) Is there a _real_ minimal install? 2) Is it possible, using yum, to know which packages holds what file? (like dpkg -S in Debian/Ubuntu) Many thanks in advance, Norberto
