Stop the FUD Xen is not deprecated

Is anyone using Review Board on CentOS 5?

I've never used easy_install/python-setuptools before (I'd never heard of it until I read the installation instructions for Review Board), so I don't know if it's possible to modify the configuration files to use PIL 1.1.5. Or if there is another/better way to install Review Board. So before I re-invent the wheel, has anyone else successfully installed Review Board on CentOS 5 and is willing to share their experience? I've done some similar types of setups: 1) The first setup included two physical machines running separate Xen VMs with the critical data on a DRBD store: Setup was quite easy using docs for DRBD and HA on the HowtoForge site. No difference in using the Xen environment except that I used a second NIC instead of a serial cable. Works great for a webserver. I was also running the CentOS directory server with this setup until I got replication working. 2) Second setup was to place the heartbeat on the physical machines. On failure, it would autostart the Xen VM. It worked, but was a PITA to get right. The reason to do this was to only use resources when the machine failed, rather than allocating the 1G constantly. I'm currently trying to get live VM migration running under Xen.

Help on deleting partitions

Hi, I have this dual boot Vista-CentOS. I have one NTFS for Vista, and three for CentOS. I boot to both OS through grub. Unfortunately, I'm going to need the CentOS space for Vista :( :( :( So my question is: if I remove the CentOS partitions *from within Vista* with its tool for it, will I be able to still boot Vista ? Is grub going to disappear ? If so, will Vista replace it for its own boot manager, thus allowing to boot it ? Or what ? I've googled about it, but couldn't find a definitive answer and I can't afford losing my Vista data. Any help would be appreciated. Warm Regards, Mário

Bonding and network cards

Hi, I have been playing this weekend with bonding on PCI netcards and found that all of netcards I have, but old 3com, do not support MII. So bonding is not going to happen with them. Do you have some pci netcards supporting MII successfully running on bonging? Thanks, David Hrbáč

does anyone have experience with clusters?

Hi all, I want to start experimenting with clusters, and I would like to use normal desktop grade hardware for this. I have some extra PC components lying around, enough to build 3 - 4 moderate desktops with a PIV / C2D CPU & 512MB - 1GB RAM each. All the machines should have at least a 100MB NIC, but I can add a gigabit NIC to the machines that doesn't have it if need be. I have used Linux Heartbeat to failover a MySQL cluster before, and it's actually been running very well for about 3 years now. Sound problem in Dell inspiron 1525

After installing CentOS 5.2 on my Dell inspiron 1525 laptop, the sound was inactive, I then installed Alsa-Driver, Alsa-utils, Alsa-plugins and Alsa-libs the ATrpms site. The speakers then work fine, but when I plug in headphones, the sound begins to fade out and eventually becomes completely quiet. I have checked the Volume Manager and nothing is muted including the Headphones volume, when I unplug the headphones the speakers are also quiet. The sound card is a HDA-INTEL. Any suggestions and solutions? NOTE: THE SPEAKERS WORK FINE, THE PROBLEM ONLY OCCURS THE MOMENT I PLUG IN HEADPHONES. HOW CAN I USE HEADPHONES?

User access to /dev/ttyUSB0

I have been trying to get an EVDO modem to work with Centos 5. I can make it dial out with wvdial only when I'm the root user. Yum upgrade inside firewall

We have several CENTOS 4.X which inside Firewall. I can NOT run "yum" inside firewall to upgrade O.S. to new release. Does there has way I can download all RPM to otherside firewall server then transfer those files into servers inside firewall and upgrade. Anyone have procedure dicuments or website can be reference? system-config-network crash

I have been trying to get a EVDO modem to work with Centos 5 and earlier this evening I used system-config-network to add it to the system. Now when I try to run system-config-network again it crashes with the following error. Can anyone tell me how I can fix this?
