HTTP blocked?

I just installed CentOS 5 and put ZoneMinder on it. Everything seems to be working fine, except I can't access the web pages from a remote computer, even if it's on the same LAN. If I lynx to the webpage from the server itself the web page comes up. I checked iptables and there doesn't seem to be any block there. There is no firewall within my LAN that would block port 80. Any other ideas? Thanks

[Request] Slurm

Hi, I really like the tool "slurm", which lets me monitor bandwidth usage realtime from within screen.. I would really appreciate it if this could be added to CentOS.. http://www.wormulon.net/slurm/ If some other tool that covers this need exists, I'll be glad to hear about it. -- Cheers, Morten

Printer Configuration

There used to be a CUI tool to configure printers from a server without X running. Is there still that tool but renamed to something else? Or do you have to use VNC and X to remotely configure printers starting with 5.x?

new CentOS5.1, samba help requested

Hi all, I'm fighting with samba on a new CentOS 5.1 install. The goal here is to have unix/linux usernames/passwords used for the samba shares (which i'll setup using webmin, as I find it easy that way). At present, the home share and one for the company's public share are in place. I can see the server, browsing from WinXP to \\172.16.0.106, but permissions seem amiss. I should be able to read/write to a given share but it seems to be ro. Any pointers or advice would be greatly appreciated. portmap not answering

CentOS 5 updated, Xen host. The portmap on this machine is somehow "stuck" and I can't figure out why. I enabled it to be able to mount a remote nfs share. The first hurdle was that "portmap" didn't appear in the chkconfig list, it was installed with the initial packages but not added to chkconfig. Took me a while to figure this out. Adding and starting it up is no problem. But nfs still doesn't work and when I try rpcinfo -p that just hangs until it finally times out after a long while (rpcinfo to another machine is fine). An strace at that time indeed shows that it is stuck trying to connect to port 111 on localhost. Same when I try to connect with telnet. Port 111 shows up on lsof UDP and TCP and there's no error when portmap starts up. There's nothing in iptables or hosts.deny that could prevent a connect. SELinux is permissive. how do I create a custom CD from an existing CD?

Hi all This may sound funny, but I can't get onto any websites right now, so I can't even google. I want to customize the contents of my CentOS 5.1 x64 CD, and re-create the ISO to write to CD again and install on a server. Postfix - Maildir - MySQL - Cyrus Imap - Sieve

I would like to use the above config, i think. Can cyrus-imap work nicely with Maildir ? If so is there one available thats configured with msql support? In the past i have used courier-imap but ideally i want to use sieve thanks

Commands failing silently?

Hello all: I have a couple CentOS 4 servers (all up-to-date) that are having strange command failures. I first noticed this with a perl script that uses lots of system calls. Basically, sometimes a command just won't run: thoth(52) /tmp> ls thoth(53) /tmp> ls thoth(54) /tmp> ls thoth(55) /tmp> ls learner lost+found/ thoth(56) /tmp> ls learner lost+found/ thoth(57) /tmp> ls learner lost+found/ thoth(58) /tmp> ls learner lost+found/ thoth(59) /tmp> ls learner lost+found/ thoth(60) /tmp> ls learner lost+found/ thoth(61) /tmp> ls learner lost+found/ thoth(62) /tmp> ls thoth(63) /tmp> ls thoth(64) /tmp> ls thoth(65) /tmp> ls thoth(66) /tmp> uname -a Linux thoth.ssc.wisc.edu 2.6.9-67.0.7.ELsmp #1 SMP Sat Mar 15 06:54:55 EDT 2008 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux Nothing in either dmesg or /var/log/messages seems to indicate any problems. It also doesn't seem to matter what the command is -- ls is the quickest test, but sshd will sometimes to fail to spawn children, etc. There aren't a large amount of processes on the machine either -- only 122 at the moment. Has anyone seen this behavior before? Have I been hit with some sort of cunning rootkit? This machine shouldn't be publicly accessible; it's behind our firewall. Should I update to DRBD 82?

Hello, This morning I noticed the following output from "yum update": Installing: drbd82 x86_64 8.2.5-1.el5.centos extras 209 k replacing drbd.x86_64 8.0.11-1.el5.centos As far as I'm aware DRBD works fine for me. Is there a way I can find out about the new release and weather I should upgrade? I can't figure out the CentOS issue tracking system at bugs.centos.org but a google site search came up with http://bugs.centos.org/print_bug_page.php?bug_id=2657 (a DRBD 82 tracker bug with empty reports), which makes me feel like this version of the package is not 100% trusted. So - should I upgrade it or not? Generally, I try to stick to the "standard" as much as I can, but the text in http://wiki.centos.org/Repositories gives an impression that "if it's in Extras, it's well tested". Thanks, --Amos
