SAMBA is driving me crazy

hi guys i have CentOS-5.1 with samba-3.0.25b-0.el5.4 and i took this workin well smb.conf from slackware12 ( commands to be done befor this ): # useradd wbc -c /home/wbc -g users# smbpasswd -a wbc# mkdir /export# chmod u+rwx,g+rx,o+rx /export# chown wbc.users /export the conf file:[global]workgroup = WORKGROUPnetbios name = sanshirosecurity = share [share]comment = Datapath = /exportforce user = wbcforce group = usersread only = noguest ok = Yes _______ and it never worked and i tried to edit the original smb.conf like this: [global] workgroup = WORKGROUPserver string = storagenetbios name = sanshirointerfaces = lo eth2hosts allow = 127. 10.0.0. # logs split per machine log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log# max 50KB per log file, then rotate max log size = 50 security = share # A publicly accessible directory, but read only, except for people in# the "users" group [public] comment = Data path = /samba/Data/ #owened by wbc.users public = yes writable = yes read only = no printable = no write list = users_________ NOW my issue that whenever i try to copy something to the share folder i get "access denied" make sure OR sometimes when i modifie it a little i get things copied but with 0kB sized. i'v been trying for 2 weeks . i couldnt know whats missing. mapper device perms on reboot

How can I get the mapper device permissions set on reboot? When I attempted to try this... # cat /etc/udev/permissions.d/50-udev.permissions | grep mapper mapper/mpath*:oracle:dba:0660 But it did not seem to work... # ls -l /dev/mapper/mpath* brw-rw---- 1 root disk 253, 2 Feb 26 20:56 /dev/mapper/mpath0 brw-rw---- 1 root disk 253, 5 Feb 26 20:56 /dev/mapper/mpath0p1 brw-rw---- 1 root disk 253, 3 Feb 26 20:56 /dev/mapper/mpath1 brw-rw---- 1 root disk 253, 4 Feb 26 20:56 /dev/mapper/mpath1p1 Am I doing something wrong? /etc/sysconfig/iptables on a stock CentOS 5 install

auto seek a server

Hi all, When putting multiple centos 5.1 boxes on a network (DHCP for network) and 1 centos 5.1 server is there a way that these clients can automatically "seek" the server. Is there something in centso 5.1 that an inquiry can be sent out that says: Is there a "Product XYZ" on this network? And the server - and not all the clients - can respond to this quiry. Just wondering, trying to reduce my setup time... Jerry

Well, easy to solve for non-japaneses find /usr/share/squirremail/functions/mime.php if (!$charset_converted) {... <<< line 316 ... } <<< line 323 and do this (comment it out) /* if (!$charset_converted) {... <<< line 316 ... } <<< line 323 */ Dont know if we run in trouble if we get a japanese charset in a mail but I think the worst case is som char_scramble in the mail view. greez willi

centos 5.1 install , 3ware raid card...

Installing a new system using a 3ware card, raid 5 across 4 disks, partition, format went smothly and loaded the apps that I need, but for some reason it appears grub was not installed, or not completely. I am wanting to boot from the array, when installing grub on the loader it asks whether to install MBR on the first partition. Should I use the partition instead of the MBR? When I boot up in rescue mode and go to /boot/grub all I see is splash....no other files. Any suggestions would be welcome...thanks.
