Kickstart: Give IP From ks= Cmdline A Myth?

Hey, someone just told me yesterday that I can give my machine an initial IP address, gateway, dns server, and netmask via command line like this: linux ks=http://www.mydomain.com/kick.ks ip=192.168.1.5 netmask=255.255.255.0 gateway=192.168.1.1 dns=192.168.1.10 Is this true? Is the syntax wrong or right? If so, and I call my kick.ks file and it has install cdrom it'll pull the files from the CD but won't launch the CD install right? I just want to initiate a kickstart where the systems get their drive partitioning info, IP addressing & hostname attributes, and minimal install packages, from the kickstart file. Is it really true that you can use the above command line to give an address for the machine to use in seeking out a kickstart file on the network? I tried it a few times last night an looked for a very long time for examples of this syntax, and found none. -krb

Software RAID1 issue

When a new system CentOS-4.4 is built the swap partition is always reversed... Note md3 below, the raidtab is OK, I have tried various raid commands to correct. swapoff -a raidstop /dev/md3 mkraid /dev/md3 --really-force swapon -a And then I get a proper ourput for /proc/mdstat, but when I reboot /proc/mdstat again reads as below, with md3 [0] [1] reversed. Openwebmail problem

hi all I am trying to install openwebmail , i have installed successfully but when i am trying to access it through web-browser then i am getting following error in my webserver error log..... openwebmail autorespond problem

hi all i m trying to setup autoresponder in openwebmail its working fine but i m facing one problem if i am sending mail from my domain to mydomain like from sysadmin(a)example.com to ak(a)example.com so from sk account i m getting autoreply but when someone is sending mail from outside of my domain like yahoo.com so openwebmail is not able to autorespond to outside domains like yahoo.if anyone has suggestion so plz let me know. thanks Send free SMS to your Friends on Mobile from your Yahoo! Problem with HTTPS ON CENTOS 4.4

Hi all , I set up https on CentOS 4.4. I did the below sets of commands, first removed existing files rm /etc/httpd/conf/ssl.key /server.key rm /etc/httpd/conf/ssl.crt/server.crt Next, I created key. Change to the /usr/share/ssl/certs/ directory and type in the following command: make genkey then issued below command, make testcert finaly /sbin/service httpd restart Then I got the below error? Starting httpd: Apache/2.0.52 mod_ssl/2.0.52 (Pass Phrase Dialog) Some of your private key files are encrypted for security reasons. In order to read them you have to provide the pass phrases. Server worldnet.itabspl.com:443 (RSA) Enter pass phrase:Apache:mod_ssl:Error: Private key not found. **Stopped [FAILED] pls NOTE that I folowed the CENTOS DOC to set up this. Upgrading to larger HD with LVM

What's the easiest way to transition to a larger HD when using LVM2? I'm running Centos 4.4. I'm going from a 20gb HD to a 40gb HD. I've already DD'd it to the 40gb HD. So now I have 20gb of unused space. Ideally, I'd like to make it one big physical space for the logical space instead of making another physical partition to expand the logical. procinfo package

Hi, ¿Where is procinfo package? I don't get any mach when I try to find it with yum. I've enabled the [base], [update], [addons], [extras], [dries], [kb] and [dag] repositories. TIA.

Yum uses too much resources

Hi all, When I do a simple string search with Yum (ex. yum search *hwinfo*) my laptop suffers high slowness. If I open another shell-tab and execute top command, it shows me an extensive use of hardware resources from Yum (20-25% RAM and 70-85% CPU). If in the same time I'm using Firefox browser the performance goes down too much and even it seems the box it's freezed. The box become totally useless during few minutes (until yum command has finished or I've killed it) More info about my old and loved laptop: * Hardware* Acer TravelMate 240 256RAM Celeron 2,5 Ghz *Software* CentOS 4.4 Final (totally updated at current day) Desktop default instalation (which means GNOME environment) ¿Is this behaviour "normal"? ¿What about this extensive hardware use from Yum? I supose my laptop is an old-fashioned hardware but this behaviour did not happen when I installed Ubuntu (and I did use apt to manage sofware) in same machine in recent past.
