Network interface fails after kernel upgrade

Hi Yum has just updated 5 of my Linux boxes running CentOS 4.3 to the 2.6.9-42 kernel. All is well on four of the boxes, but on the fifth the network card (eth0) will not work. I've downgraded the kernel to the previous version and the network card works fine again. I've tried removing and re-installing the new kernel, but the network card won't work with it. The details of the card are as follows: lspci:- 00:0e.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (rev 10) /etc/modprobe.conf:- alias eth0 8139too Any suggestions welcomed.. Thanks Clive

yum update failed

I am getting the following error on yum update. What do I do??? Copying files from DOS environment based on archive bit

Hi Folks, I've a Linux server that has a disk on a Windows NT-based machine mounted via samba so that it appears as /share/pd on the Linux box. I am trying to automate a backup procedure that pushes files from the NT disk to another site as a ZIP file using scp. All is working OK, but I'd now like to make the backup 'incremental' so can anyone think of a way I can grab files off the NT server based on whether their archive bit is set (and then clear the bit) - I can't see that the Linux ZIP command supports this and can't see a way of doing it with mtools. I might visit this afresh and host the data files on the Linux server in due course and then have a look at tar/dar/bacula, but for the moment they must stay where they are for various technical reasons. It's pretty broad request, and Cisco IOS is quite complex... Sorry I can't help you more, but this may be a good time to find a local person you can hire to get it configured the way you need. Once it's configured, it's pretty much set unless you change your network. HTH Mark

Postfix chroot jail - Centos 4

As I can seen, there is the bind-chroot glue package, but is there a postfix-chroot.rpm glue ? I have looked for it, but I think there is not. If there is not, what is your opinion about creating one ? Thanks -- Vilela

Could some one guide me from where I can get freenx rpms and its dependencies (nx) for 64bit kernel? I have goggled quite a lot but did not see nx. Rpm for 64 bit. Thanks Rajeev

make - perl - broken

Could you help me trouble shoot this? I am a bit of a rookie and probably screwed something up. I am trying to "make" imapsync, but there is a complaint regarding some Perl problem that I cannot figure out. 3Ware 9500 vs 9550 vs CentOS 4.latest kernel

Is anyone having issues with these particular cards (especially the newer SATAII variant) and the stock CentOS kernels? Are they well supported enough such that a "yum update" suffices to keep them synced up with patches without having to hand edit the kernel or build special modules from 3Ware each time? Cheers,

It's nice to see that the OS where CentOS gets its sources from also experiments the same error! I have been very busy lately so I haven't had the time to deal with the problem, probably later this week or early next week. As soon as I find something Ill let you know.
