Hanging @ Sendmail During Boot

Hi All, I have a coupla queries about my 2 latest installs of CentOS 4-3. When I first installed and logged in as the initial user, everything went well, and the system was fast. A reboot, and 2nd login gave the same. But, upon connecting to the net, the system hung at sendmail for almost 4mins, and then gave an error at login about not finding the host, and that Gnome may not work correctly, with options of Continue or try Again. After that, the system has become extensively slow. Any ideas why this would be this way? This is the 2nd machine, different locations, different media, that this has happened. Rather annoying. I may not agree with everything they say, such as ISPConfig (I prefer webmin) but this tutorial offers a "step by step opportunity for newbies". Does this indicate that CentOS is now a "mainstream" distro? (Technically speaking its not CentOS 4.3 but CentOS 4 Update 3 but we are not into semantics). kernel panic - spin_lock

Guys, one of our boxes just died with the following error: kernel panic - not syncing: fs/block_dev.c:396: spin_lock (fs/block_dev.c:c0361c0) already locked by fs/block_dev.c/287. The system's an LVS running CentOS 4.3: centos-release-4-3.2 kernel-2.6.9-34.EL ipvsadm-1.24-6 heartbeat-1.2.3.cvs.20050927-1.centos4 I note that there's a bug report filed related to CentOS 4.2: http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=1201&nbn=7 I was just wondering, would you like a bug report filed for this? Please help! boot problem

Hi, I have a setup with raid 1 and one drive has failed, and the other drive won't boot says missing os. I thought I had it setup and tested but it would appear that it wasn't setup to boot form either drive. How can I boot from the good drive that is missing the grub. I am thinking of using linux rescue when booting from the centos 4.2 disc This is a production machine and I don't want to mess it up. Please help

Libpcap srpm?

I am looking for this and all I can find (checked some mirrors too) is the rpm. Where is the source rpm so I can rebuild from it? Thanks, Greg

Raid Questions

Hi, I have a centos 4.2 server setup and running as a zimbra email server. It has 2 18.4Gig SCSI hard drives setup in software raid 1 for mirroring. I had tested the unit before production and found that if I disconnected one of the drives the other wouldn't boot I search and found that I had to modify the boot (I don't remember exactly at the moment) After testing I am sure it worked. On the weekend the power went out and turns out one drive had failed and the server wouldn't boot from the other drive. I am not sure at what point the other drive failed could be days could be weeks ago. What is the proper way to get the system running again? I can fix the failed drive. (damaged pin). When I get it running again will the info on the drive that won't boot be mirror back to the other drive? I am sure the drive that won't boot due to grub and raid is the most current. Thanks for any help Mace

PHP 5.0.4 and PostgreSQL [solved]

PHP 5.0.4 and PostgreSQL

Hello list. Does anybody of you use PHP 5.0.4 from "CentOS plus" repo and PostgreSQL 8.1.x from www.postgresql.org (rpms for RHLE 4 AS)? (php-pgsql.rpm I have installed) On my machine PHP don't connect to PostgreSQL. Anybody of you set it up? On the other server I use PHP and PostgreSQL included into CentOS 4.x and it works fine.
