CPAN module install problem

I could use some assistance getting CPAN functional again. CPAN stopped working on Centos 4.2 x64, and I can no longer install modules. I did a install Bundle::CPAN and upgraded to 1.8.2, and perl was updated afterwards via yum update. Telling software system really has 512Mb memory

I am stuck in my Scalix install. It checks for 512Mb memory. At some point I am suppose to get the extra memory, but for now I am stuck at 256Mb. Is there some system value that I can set so that the installer is led to believe there is 512Mb of memory, so I can at least get this stuff installed?

Possible missing packages?

Is there an rpm package for the latest kernel-source? What about perl-CGI I did a search and install using yum and nothing was returned? This seems kind of odd? Any ideas?

I got in over my head. jpackage was/is too much for me at this time. Maybe for a long time. Sorry for diverting your efforts to try and help me. I only want to run SCALIX CE on this system. It needs the jdk and tomcat. But if you look: http://www.scalix.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=516&highlight=centos A number have gotten it running just fine with the 'broken' sun stuff. Perhaps Scalix is not so 'demanding'. So I am following instructions from above URL. I did learn a lot here, making up for some of the implied steps in the instructions. Perhaps I will have to do a complete reinstall of Centos to get out of the jpackage mess I might be in. Well I REALLY should learn Kickstart, and perhaps I will do that for this system! Again you are all a great help. If you need some crypto help. 802.11i or such, that is where I 'live'. Well at least I help right the specs. Someelse has to code them! Barrs Law of Recursive futility If you're smart enough to use one of these.... .....you can probably manage without one!

Mouse hour glass and desktop

What does it mean when your mouse hour glass pointer turns into a skull and cross bones symbol for a few seconds and is then followed by your desktop icons being scrambled around to different locations. This reminds me of a bug in the old Windows 98 SE desktop. What would cause this? This has happened to me once before on Fedora 3 (I think, maybe 2).

Sendmail.cf / access.db

I've noticed from the sendmail logs, certain IP's are being blocked via the known spammers configuration in the sendmail.cf. What I also note is in my access file, I have several TLD's that are listed, yet are NOT being blocked. Yes, I do call a make after each edit of the access list, and going by the timestamp on access.db, it appears to being updated, yet again, in the sendmail portion of the daily logs, those TLD's which are in the access list are not listed as being blocked. Hope that is not too confusing.. think I confused myself, but in any case, things are in there that should be blocked and are not being. Hints? Sam
