O.T. Wheel mouse

Slightly off topic, but wanted to ask. Is there any first source/seconds or third source application that can be used to speed up the movement of the wheel mouse? It's painfully slow compared to my "normal" usage on a windows box. Or, are there any quick hacks that can be made to speed up the wheel in the Xconfig? Snowman

Evolution forgetting read mail

Hi all, Has anyone seen Evolution "forget" which emails have been read in CentOS 4? I have a client that's reported he's reading his email, closes Evolution, and when he starts it again, the messages are marked as unread. I found bug reports about this here: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=273787 https://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4373 It's supposedly fixed in version 2.2.1.1. I'm running Fedora Core 4 and haven't had the same issue at all, so it does indeed look to be quashed. I'd appreciate some feedback. Squid Start startup service after 5 or 10 min

Configuring eth1 to be in promiscuous mode

Hi there -- I want to have eth1 on my system run in promiscuous mode. I modified the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1 file to read as follows: DEVICE=eth1 BOOTPROTO= ... ONBOOT= TYPE=Ethernet ... I reboote the system and when I did an /sbin/ifconfig, eth1 appeared without an ip address. I did a check in the /var/log/messages file and while eth0 is in promiscuous mode, eth1 does not appear to be so. Is there something else I need to do? Thanks.

I am probably being daft, but I don't see a proxy option. What I am trying to do is to install from a network where the only way out is via a proxy on port 3128.

Hi Bernard, You can use dansguardian from the dag repo. It does content filtering as well as use clamav for antivirus. Adaptec adp94xx - anyone using it?

The latest adp94xx chipset is now available on some SuperMicro motherboards. I was wondering has tried the driver with CentOS 4.2? Any thoughts on the driver performance? Does SMART work? Etc. Thanks, Mark Hoy

Hello all, This is my first post here on CentOS list and I wanted to know if there are plans to make available as CentOS RPMs applications allowing the Antivirus scan of all downloaded objects through a Squid proxy, I especialy think about tools like viralator, havp, or safesquid ? A lot of my customers ask for solutions like that and like I realy felt in love with CentOS I prefer to have applications coming from the official branch and maintened all version life... Thanks for your work, help, and, I hope, forthcoming answers... I just complete an install of 2.6.9-11.EL i686 On reboot, I get a couple of minor errors: smartd [FAILED] (not sure what this is) and then an error saying that no X server could be started (I installed using the graphical install and selected 'everything' as a first-time install) The error states: (EE) VIA(0): No valid modes found. According to the detail output, VIA seems to get loaded ok, then funs through every possible video mode and fails with the following two lines repeated for each mode: (II) VIA(0): Not using default mode "320x240" (bad mode clock/interface/doublescan) (II) VIA(0): Not using default mode "320x240" (hsync out of range) according to the output, it successfully reads a DEL Model 7004, and gives a max h-image size of horz 31, vert 23 . (it's a 15" display). I'm not sure how to track this down. Any input is appreciated.
