correct way to migrate old data on hda to new sda

I am migrating off of a 40GIG hda to a new 160GIG sda disk. I plan on installing 4.2 from scratch. But after that what is the correct way do transfer all the data from hda (home partition really) to the new sda home partition? I presume there is just a couple files in /etc to restore also. Like hosts, passwd. Anything else? Other suggestions welcome also. this is my first time migrating to a new disk. THanks, jerry

I plan to download the 4 bin cd's and load the os on a sony vaio laptop. Do I also need the server cd?

It is a single-CD distribution of CentOS 4 that (so I hear) will install in *small* places. Since it is intended as a small server distribution, the package set is sharply reduced. [OT] Witty one liners or computer related proverbs

Dear All, I need some witty computer related proverbs or one liners that some of have used in the past as footers for your emails for example. I particularly remember a PERL based transliteration joke/footer that when run in PERL produces a witty output.... This is to fix a problem internally created by an over zealous salesman at my company pinning up A4 sheets with bullSh*t sales proverbs on them!!! thanks Pete

The resulting installed system is identical to a normal CentOS 4 install ( with yum and up2date ). One important thing to keep in mind - this installer uses the stock i686 kernel - therefore i586 machines are not supported ( including MiniITX, ViaC3's, AMD K6' etc ). If you need to install on such machines, you will need to get the full distro. Download it from the /centos/4/isos/i386/ directory on your local mirror or pickup the torrent.
