I believe there are known issues with Zimbra on the 64 bit platform. I think you can expect this to be addressed in the forthcoming versions.
We provide Zimbra hosting services and have had to use the 32bit CentOS even though we have access to 64bit machines.

I don't use, but I seem to remember a thread in the mailing lists that mentioned Zimbra? Did you check the lists? If not, I *think* there's an answer in there.
