I had an AMD box that started reporting time going backwards. Turned out the heatsink was loose because the retainer tab cracked off - cpu continuously cycled thru overheat, throttle down, overheat, throttle down, etc.
Following up Robert, I trust the new CPU came with its own heat sink and fan, and you used the thermal grease? Also, is the cooling and power in the case adequate?
