How can I know the hardware info eg: type of memory No need to turn off the machine

Look in /proc or use a tool that sumarize it nicely (sosreport or others)... And look at the quickspecs documentation of your server. Even better, use your vendor utilities (if provided). By example, if it is an HP server, use hpdiags to get very detailed info.
