Hai i have installed a new centos server and i am planning to use this machine as my gateway and restrict the usage of the certain websites. So i guess basically i am trying to use this machine as my firewall. So could any one guide me on this. How to achieve this.
Take a look at squid proxy server (http://www.squid-cache.org/) and squidguard (http://www.squidguard.org/). Both are available in the CentOS repositories.
Dansguardian is pretty good, as well, and also works in conjunction with Squid. -- Mike Burger http://www.bubbanfriends.org
And you can also use calamaris, sarg or lightsquid for tracking the web usage.
