This won't solve your problem but I have the same thing. The 2 workarounds I use are:

1. Use my camera's USB cable directly

This is a built-in reader than hooks to the USB card internally.

2. Dual boot FC4 on the box I have set up with Win2K for

great-grandkids. The card reader works fine in FC4.

I can boot to either Mepis or Arch to do this. I was hoping that CentOS could do it.
