Is there a way to copy it to a hardware RAID 1 array of two drives in a similiar way?
The same way? The underlying OS knows nothing of the physical geometry behind a hardware raid controller. Find out what dev it is, sd? and do what you did, so long as it's exactly the same size or bigger.
If so what not too expensive 2 port hardware raid controller do you reccommend and how do you do it?
2 port? never seen one, but I like LSI's... jlc
