In C8 /var/log/messages I see messages about "no i915.ko binding for Intel codec".
Yes xorg-x11-drv-intel is loaded on C8 and C7.
Hmmm looking at the kernel modules they should be in a directory like:
/lib/modules/4.18.0-147.0.3.el8_1.x86_64/kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/i915/gvt/kvmgt.ko.xz /lib/modules/4.18.0-147.0.3.el8_1.x86_64/kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/i915/i915.ko.xz /lib/modules/4.18.0-147.3.1.el8_1.x86_64/kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/i915/gvt/kvmgt.ko.xz /lib/modules/4.18.0-147.3.1.el8_1.x86_64/kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/i915/i915.ko.xz /lib/modules/4.18.0-147.el8.x86_64/kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/i915/gvt/kvmgt.ko.xz /lib/modules/4.18.0-147.el8.x86_64/kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/i915/i915.ko.xz
see if they exist on your system and if they do try an insmod with the kernel you are using. If that works then it is a matter of figuring out why its not finding the modules. If it doesn't exist.. it is a matter of finding out why
