FWIW: on Fedora I'm using pidgin for all kinds of messaging: with the purple-telegram package installed it also supports Telegram.
Fedora includes purple-telegram and it is also in EPEL for CentOS 8, but AFAICS it is unfortunately not available in CentOS 7 EPEL.
