[CentOS] why type "perl -MCPAN -e shell" -> "install XML::Simple" on CentOS 5?

I'm running nmap2nagios.pl, and I notice that on CentOS 5, I had to
run the following to get it working (when I didn't have to do the same
on CentOS 4)
