I am running 1.5.0_06 on CentOS 3.6 (2.4.21-37.0.1.EL kernel) without any problems.

Bummer. Updated to latest 1.5.0_06 JVM from the _03. Still hangs in a futex wait. When I can, I guess I will revert to previous kernel and regression test.
