I've edited the sendmail.mc, commenting out the daemon process on port 127, rerun the m4 macro, rebuilt per documentation on sendmail, yet I still get a refusal on connection when trying to telnet to port 25. Post the output of:

grep -v "^dnl" /etc/mail/sendmail.mc

netstat -talpen | grep :25

Check your packet filtering setup and be sure port 25 isn't blocked.
