I'm also under proxy server and yum work like ... charm.
You can find manual in http://www.centos.org/docs/4/html/yum/sn-yum-proxy-server.html. I'm usualy edit /etc/yum.conf and put there #proxy adress:port - take care of / proxy=http://proxy.somedomain.si:80/ #proxy username and passwd proxy_username= proxy_password=

I'm under a proxy server (squid) and I need to update my centos but every time that I run yum -y update tells me that I can no find a file that exists. The problems is that this machine that I'm trying to update has no graphic shell, so I need to make all by console.
