I am getting the following "yum update" error this morning. C 5.3 x86_64.
What shall I do? ---> Package file.x86_64 0:4.17-15.el5_3.1 set to be updated
Skip the above package, by "yum remove file". Then run "yum update" again. I had the same problem the other day.
If you need any dependencies that are removed with "file", reinstall them after the yum update.
