I tend to use RCS. I do intend to sort out a more integrated, multi-system setup using either CVS or Subversion in conjunction with rdist from a central configuration management server at some stage in the future but for now RCS does what I need.

Thanks for that, but I'd rather go with CVS as I have a few servers to manage and I'd like to be able to do a checkout then update from my PC to have access to all the config file versions from my pc.
Any other ideas?
